There are careers made on racism.  In my experience, most people I know are not racist.  I said that once and was driven out of a room by white people.  Some of the outrage is real and some is manufactured.

I think you are right. My gf grew up in a part of town where most were Polish Catholics who had their own church and tavern. Down the street were Germans who had their own, also. Then there were the Finns who built identical houses side by side and gave them beautiful paint colors. All worked for the RR. The Irish lived across the river with their own church and worked for the bus company. That was Portland in the early decades. Gradually, people worked together and mingled after work and married out of their own race and religion.

We were around when most of the immigrants were from Europe.  In their day, there was a lot of ethnocentrism between cultural groups that were all or almost all white. 

The biases went away when they had to work together to fight WW2.

Yes and when they intermarried.

Yes and people learned to cook in ymore than one language. Yum.

I learned to cook in other languages.

I have too. I get hooked on one and try it for weeks at a time and then switch to another.

The only food I’ve had difficulty with is Indian.  It never tastes quite right.

Maybe you ate from the wrong section of India? Some are vegan, some vegetarian and some flesh eating.
