Trump gave the Taliban a clear warning at the meeting that if a single American was killed they would be wiped out. They believed him and they feared him. There is no comparison between Trump and Biden, which you would think is a good thing.

Except that we know the Taliban reneged on the terms of the deal almost immediately, this is well documented, so the truth is they didn’t fear him but took advantage of him and got important leaders and foot soldiers released to unleash mayhem in that country.

They did not kill a single American. Actually the Trump deal left all contingencies that Biden could have followed. He chose not to. The blame is in him. That article is just spin.

WSJ does often report fairly conservative to strong conservative pieces but then their editorials also show a bit of left leaning also. Therefore, I don't necessarily count them out, but I would like a second source which I trust to verify that. Usually, what WSJ posts can be verified on Fox News or Breitbart or both, but I found no references from either of these two sources.
Try it yourself with Fox News... go to https://www.foxnews.com/ click search and then enter [Mawlavi Talib] and absolutely nothing turns up. Now search for just [Talib] and you find [Los Angeles Rams' Aqib Talib] and if you just search for [Mawlavi] you find [Mawlavi Habibul Rahman] an Uzbek IS commander that NATO took out in 2018. But absolutely no mention of [Mawlavi Talib].
Now do the same thing with Breitbart News go to https://www.breitbart.com/ and search for [Mawlavi Talib]... absolutely nothing shows up.
BBC is quite a liberal leaning site and National Review is a hard left leaning site.
As for www.counterextremism.com... I'm not that familiar with them, but they were the ones doing the circle back that I mentioned in my previous post. (* LOL *)
Go to the timeline at the bottom of that article you posted.
Look what it says for Jan 2020 [Arrested by Afghan forces in Sangin and held in Bagram prison.] And if you look at their source, it says [Source: Alan Cullison and Saeed Shah, “Taliban Commander Who Led Attack on Afghan City Was Released From Prison Last Year, Officials Say,” Wall Street Journal, August 3, 2021, https://www.wsj.com/articles/taliban-commander-who-led-attack-on-afghan-city-was-released-from-prison-last-year-officials-say-11628010527]. So they pick this Jan 2020 item up from the WSJ's Aug 3, 2021 article. The same one we're talking about.
Now go to the next timeline entry towards beginning of Sep 2020 and it says [Released by the Afghan government following the Feb 2020 peace agreement between the...] and it quotes the source as [Source: Mujib Mashal and Fatima Faizi, “Afghan Peace Talks Set to Begin as Prisoner Swap Is Nearly Done,” New York Times, October 5, 2020, https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/03/world/asia/afghanistan-taliban-prisoners.html]. So they're quoting the NYT concerning the peace agreement but it mentions nothing about [Mawlavi Talib]. They just threw it in their timeline under Mawlavi Talib's name. But didn't mention him.
Then the next timeline entry towards the beginning of Dec 2020, it says [Resumes post as Taliban's "shadow" deputy governor of Helmand. And the source they quote says [Source: Alan Cullison and Saeed Shah, “Taliban Commander Who Led Attack on Afghan City Was Released From Prison Last Year, Officials Say,” Wall Street Journal, August 3, 2021, https://www.wsj.com/articles/taliban-commander-who-led-attack-on-afghan-city-was-released-from-prison-last-year-officials-say-11628010527] so now we're back to the WSJ article again.
The next and final entry in their timeline is first part of Aug 2021 and says [Commands hundreds of Taliban fighters to launch an attack on Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand...] and the source they quote is [Source: Alan Cullison and Saeed Shah, “Taliban Commander Who Led Attack on Afghan City Was Released From Prison Last Year, Officials Say,” Wall Street Journal, August 3, 2021, https://www.wsj.com/articles/taliban-commander-who-led-attack-on-afghan-city-was-released-from-prison-last-year-officials-say-11628010527] so we're back to the WSJ article again.

US to hand Bagram base to Afghan forces within 20 days: Official
The US military is set to hand over its largest military base in Afghanistan to the government forces in the upcoming weeks as Washington has pledged to withdraw its troops from the war-ravaged Asian country by September 11.
Press TV: “I can confirm we will hand over Bagram Air Base,” a US defense official was quoted by media outlets as saying on Tuesday.
The official didn’t specify when the transfer of the sprawling US-run airfield in Bagram would take place. But an Afghan security official said the handover was expected in about 20 days and the defense ministry had set up special committees to manage it.
The base is the largest military facility used by US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, with thousands of troops stationed there during the peak of America’s military involvement in the violence-wracked country.
The base just north of Kabul also houses a prison that held thousands of Taliban militants and other inmates over the past years.
The notorious US-run Bagram prison, known as the “Guantanamo Bay of Afghanistan” for its human rights abuses, was placed under control of Afghan authorities in 2012.
All foreign troops were supposed to have been withdrawn by May 1, as part of an agreement that the US had reached with the Taliban in the Qatari capital, Doha, last year. But US President Joe Biden has pushed that date back to September 11.
US president vows and vows again to leave Afghanistan
The pledge by Biden to fully withdraw from Afghanistan by September the 11th is seen as the end of one struggle and the beginning of another by the people of Afghanistan, some of whom fear the dominance of extremism promoted by the Taliban.
The US Central Command said on May 18 that the withdrawal from Afghanistan was between 13 and 20 percent complete.
It said that since Biden ordered the exit in April, it had removed the equivalent of 115 fully loaded C-17 cargo aircraft worth of material from the country, while consigning more than 5,000 pieces of equipment to a Pentagon agency for destruction.
CENTCOM has also turned over five facilities to the Afghan Defense Ministry, including the Kandahar Airfield in southern Afghanistan, once the second-largest military base in the country for US forces.
The Pentagon refuses to be precise about the speed of the withdrawal and the likely final date in order to “preserve operational security.”
Blinken says US troop pullout from Afghanistan ‘doesn’t mean we’re leaving’
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says there will still be US presence in Afghanistan after the troop withdrawal is completed.
The Taliban warned that the passing of the May 1 deadline for a complete withdrawal “opened the way for” the militants to take every counteraction they deemed appropriate against foreign forces in the county.
The US attacked Afghanistan in 2001, claiming that the Taliban were harboring al-Qaeda. The invasion removed a Taliban regime from power but prompted widespread militancy and insecurity across the Asian country. The war has taken countless lives, including thousands of Afghan civilians.
US forces have remained bogged down there through the presidencies of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump and now Biden.
