Red Flag laws don't work... there are numerous memes about them too...
They infringe on law abiding citizens rights and don't work.
Piss off a Democrat and they call to get you placed on the Red Flag list... even if you did nothing more than piss them off and even if you didn't even brandish a gun when you pissed them off.
If a neighbor sees you loading a legal gun into the trunk of your car to take down to the shooting range and doesn't like it, they can call the police with a red flag complaint.
Bottom line: They don't work!!!

The following part is where abuse of the Red Flag laws cause more problems than they resolve anything...
>>>Gun rights activists argue that the laws can too easily take a person’s guns based on unproven accusations.
“The biggest issue with all these bills is due process,” Dan Reid, western director of the National Rifle Association, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “A person is going to lose their rights based on a third-party allegation. They’ve never been convicted of a crime. They’ve never been adjudicated mentally ill. That’s not how our system of justice should work.”<<<

Let's summarize where we are:
Walter says that fortifying schools is "better than what we're doing now."
Walter also suggests that invasion of privacy is permissible because we need to "Flag them as possibly dangerous to others and watch their activity closely (both online and on the streets)."
Walter says "Identifying possible troubled students was discussed in detail in several of those videos" and Walter says "Everything needed to flag somebody was mentioned in the 3 videos I mentioned above."
As I understand it, Walter is getting his thoughts from video experts.
That's where the discussion currently stands.

What is your opinion of the 3 videos.
Why comment about Walter when Walter was talking about the 3 videos.
Did you watch them?
And what is your opinion of the things discussed in them.
Let's get back to the videos and stop talking about Walter who was talking about the videos shall we?
Don't attempt to disambiguate the situation.
Edited to add: And the situation is NOT about Walter!!!
It's about how to protect children in our schools!

The question about hardening our schools was in the context of discussion about monitoring everyone's every thought, a proposition about which you have expressed some concern. Showtalk says in post 6940.84 "How do they ensure that they don’t target someone who should not be flagged vs those who should?"
If the schools have been turned into armed fortresses, do we also need to be monitoring their on line privacy?
Jun-6
Showtalk says: "Rather than target everyone, they need a way to weed out the offenders."
We agree. How do you propose weeding them without extensive invasion of privacy of those of "us" who don't need to be weeded out?

One should think that the experts would be as concerned about examining and identifying the causes of the epidemic and not just concerning themselves with performing radical surgery on the symptoms.

One should think that when asked 3 times about what they thought about the 3 videos... one would answer...
But apparently not!

Funny. Video experts are the same people who testify at trials, write articles and do research. Why are you making fun of experts? Have you watched any videos? What is your opinion on the facts, not on Walter or his resources?
