Democrat led cities see deserted downtowns, surging crime as residents flee

AMERICAN NEWS

Human activity in the Democrat cities of San Francisco, Cleveland, and Portland has dropped by nearly 50 percent as Americans want to avoid violence and crime.

Democrat led cities see deserted downtowns, surging crime as residents flee

American cities such as San Francisco, Cleveland, and Portland rank high among Democrat led metropolises that have become barren of human activity in the wake of record-high crime, homelessness, and poor public services.

According to the Daily Mail, the downtown and urban centers of major US cities have seen activity drop by nearly 50 percent according to a study by the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California Berkeley. The study tracked the cell phone activity of roughly 18 million Americans and compared that data with movement in the big cities before the Covid pandemic.

San Francisco ranked highest as its downtown only experienced 31 percent of human activity in 2022, with Cleveland coming in second with 36 percent activity. Portland came in third as its urban center had 41 percent activity. All of these cities have experienced record high crime levels in the past two years and all three followed "defund the police" efforts after the BLM riots of 2020 which caused upwards of 30 deaths, multiple injuries, and over 1 billion dollars in damage.

This data shares similar results to information released by the real estate firm Redfin in July that showed homeowners want to flee Democrat led cities and move to safer, more affordable locations, most of which are in Republican led cities and states, such as Florida.

San Francisco ranks highest on the list of cities where human activity has bottomed out. The Daily Mail reports that crime is up 7.4 percent in San Francisco compared to 2021 and has more than double the crime as other crime-ridden cities such as NYC and LA.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed led the "defund the police" charge in 2021 and crime almost immediately spiked. Violent crime is significantly up as rapes have increased by 9.5 percent and assault is up 12 percent. Homelessness has skyrocketed in The Golden Gate city despite record high state spending to combat it.In July, George Soros funded Leftist activist San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin was recalled as citizens of the city started to demand better living standards.

Cleveland's historic crime saw 10,435 arrests on average per year since 2019. As of August, 90 people have been murdered in Cleveland, on its way to pass the 101 murders recorded last year. Democrat Justin Bibb is the mayor of Cleveland and has promised to turn the city around.

Portland, under the leadership of Mayor Ted Wheeler, was at the epicenter of the 2020 BLM riots and continually faces routine crime, rioting, and homelessness. In 2022 Portland decriminalized drug use, which led to a surge in violent crime.

The Post Millennial reported in 2021 how Portland residents were already trending downward in terms of downtown activity, as everyone was afraid of the day-to-day violence and crime.

Actually I know a few people who live right in the city of SF and if traffic dropped it's because of extreme Covid restrictions and things like lack of reliable bus service. It's not because people are fleeing. During Covidmthey shut down much of their bus service and it's still not back 100%.  Rents dropped during Covid so people who could not afford to live there are actually moving back in.  One person sublet an apartment and in less than an hour after putting up an ad, had a dozen inquiries.  So the article doesn't tell the full story and was written by a UK publication. They should ask people who live there.  They like the fact that fewer people are wandering around. Michnkf the drop, such as it is, is due to lack of tourists. Again, fall out from Covid restrictions.

Most of those remaining in SF and many other similar cities are those who cannot afford to move elsewhere.

(i.e. even if they wanted to move... they cannot afford to!)

Actually that isn’t quite true either.  Those who can’t afford SF move to Oakland and displace people there.  The very wealthy stay in SF and run the politics and the city.

I found out that the downtown area is a ghost town. People who could leave did because of the crime but only in that small neighborhood.  Many well employed people are now remote and they are no longer going into downtown offices. So yes the streets are empty but for different reasons than stated. The other neighborhoods are packed and streets are crowded.

And then you have the homeless, the druggies who crap and shoot up drugs on the streets, etc. too.

Exactly. Poor or lower income Americans are paying taxes to pay off someone else’s student loan debt and free college for immigrants.  “We don’t care about you.”

Not only that, but over 20 million Americans (regardless of political party) can't afford to pay their electric bills... much less somebody else's loans.

This is what Democrats are doing to our society!!! DESTROYING IT!!!

BIDEN ECONOMY: 20 Million Americans Behind on Electric Bills – Facing Electricity Being Shut Off

By Joe Hoft
Published August 25, 2022 at 7:15am

The Biden economy is no laughing matter.  Millions of Americans are now finding it hard to eat, get work and pay their electric bills.

A review of the Consumer Price Index data shows that the price of energy is rocketing upwards and many Americans are having a hard time paying their electric bills. Sundance at the Conservative Treehouse shared his own electric bill experience when discussing this data.

Long-term CTH readers might remember in 2014 when President Obama claimed U.S. families had been paying too little for electricity for too long.  As soon as Joe Biden took office, he began implementing the Green New Deal energy policy that, (a) directly forces higher costs for energy; and (b) is now creating massive problems.

In July I noted my own electricity bill had jumped 28% in a single month.  That bill was followed by another almost identical increase this month.  A review of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July [Data Here] shows that nationally the same thing is happening.  The year-over-year electricity price has increased 15.2%. However, worse still, the July increase alone was 1.9%, which figures to an annualized rate of 22.8%.

Steve Cortes shared a Bloomberg report that 20 million American households are now behind on their electric bills.

Utility Delinquencies – as reported by Bloomberg News, in a rare moment of honesty for a legacy media platform, an astounding 20 million American households are currently behind in paying their Utility bills. 1 in 6 households, in this land of abundance, cannot afford the simplest, most basic necessity of paying for power in their homes.

The article predicts “a tsunami of shutoffs” as the pandemic moratorium on disconnections of service expires across the country.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre boasts that the America is “economically stronger” than ever, so why can’t these citizens afford power? Well, the answer largely lies in the explosion in electricity prices under Biden. Amidst of a sea of soaring overall inflation, this particular price surge crushes working-class people. July saw a 15% annualized increase in electricity rates, the highest acceleration since 2006. See this chart on electricity costs under Trump vs. Biden.

Cortes was on Steve Bannon’s War Room and he discussed the crisis for 1 in 6 Americans. Americans can’t pay their electric bills and food.  This is really getting bad.

The Biden recession is very close to a depression.  More stupid policy initiatives and that’s where America will be.  It’s as if this is what the crime families running the country want.
