Controversial energy official charged with stealing woman’s luggage at MSP

The MIT grad went viral earlier this year when he announced his new role as the deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the U.S. Department of Energy.

Sam Brinton, one of the first “openly genderfluid individuals in federal government leadership,” was charged with felony theft last month after allegedly stealing a woman’s luggage at MSP Airport.

The MIT grad went viral earlier this year when he announced his new role as the deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the U.S. Department of Energy.

“As one of if not the very first openly genderfluid individuals in federal government leadership, I was welcomed with open arms into the Department of Energy all the way up to the Secretary whom I shared the stage with in a Pride month celebration panel just today,” Brinton wrote on Twitter at the time.

He said he is not a Biden appointee but instead was hired as a career employee in the Senior Executive Service. Brinton accepted the job in February and began in June, according to media reports.

Prior to working in government, Brinton was an anti-conversion therapy activist who taught “Kink 101” workshops on college campuses, according to The National Pulse. A photo from one of these workshops shows Brinton in a dress as he stands over three males in leather dog masks.

Brinton discussed his “pup play” fetish in a 2016 Metro Weekly article, The Pulse reports.

“One of the hardest things about being a handler is that I’ve honestly had people ask, ‘Wait, you have sex with animals?’” Brinton said. “They believe it’s abusive, that it’s taking advantage of someone who may not be acting up to a level of human responsibility … The other misperception is that I have some really messed up background, like, did I have some horrible childhood trauma that made me like to have sex with animals?”

Brinton is also a member of the sacrilegious drag queen society called “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” which mocks Catholic nuns with names like “Sister Porn Again,” “Sister Chastity Boner,” and “Sister Roz Erection,” according to American Greatness.

Brinton, who goes by the name “Sister Ray Dee O’Active,” attended the group’s 2021 “Lavender Mass” where he paid tribute to “Daddy Fauci,” The Pulse reports.

According to the Washington Examiner, Brinton once talked with college students about “how he enjoys tying up his significant other like a table, and eating his dinner on him while he watches Star Trek.”

The charges

Law enforcement at the Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) International Airport were alerted to a missing suitcase in the baggage claim area on Sept. 16. The adult female victim said she flew into MSP on a Delta flight from New Orleans and went to retrieve her checked bag at carousel seven.

Airport records confirmed the navy blue Vera Bradley roller bag arrived at 4:40 p.m. but was missing from the carousel. So law enforcement reviewed video surveillance footage from the baggage claim area and observed Brinton removing a navy blue roller bag from carousel seven, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint says Brinton removed a luggage tag from the bag, placed it into a handbag he was carrying, and “then left the area at a quick pace.” Brinton arrived at MSP Airport around 4:27 p.m. on an American Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., but did not check a bag, meaning he had no reason to visit baggage claim, according to the complaint.

Police showed the surveillance video to the victim and she confirmed it was her bag.

Brinton left the airport in an Uber for a stay at the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront hotel, where he checked in with the blue bag,

He had no check-in luggage. So, he should NOT have gone to the baggage claim area. This also shows the lax security at the baggage pickup area. In Japan, when you exit the baggage pickup area you have to go through a pair of double doors where a guard will check your luggage ticket with the bag you're attempting to leave the baggage pickup area with. If you claim you lost the ticket, they will ask you what is in the luggage and then proceed to ask you to open the luggage so that they can confirm what is inside is what you said. None of this happened. That's lax security and probably a reason for many of the luggage disappearing from US airports.

Also note, that after he picked up the bag, he removed the baggage ticket attached to the bag and then left in a hurry. Nothing he can say... other that... I stole it... will fly!!! Anything else will be a lying excuse!

Edited to add: If he seriously didn't know it wasn't his... even though he had no checked in luggage... the proper thing to do would be to bring it back to the airport and report the mistake. But he removed the clothing and did something with it... he said he left the clothing inside in the hotel room, but the hotel staff didn't find any, so either he stole the clothing inside or threw the contents away somewhere. AND... he continued to use the luggage for his own personal purposes knowing good and well that it wasn't his.

Sounds like a classic Karen - an entitled type person who sees something they want, so they just take it. Doesn't matter if it belonged to someone else.

Sticky fingers, 5 finger discount, and clearly no respect for boundaries or other people's property.

I would guess this is not that person's first rodeo with taking others' stuff.

Those are the kind to set up with bait. Hide an air tag in the item, and rig it with a high pressure gas dispersal system that will spray the perp with a bright indelible dye when it opens, something so potent that they will leave handprints on anything they touch - trying to wash the stuff off will stain the sink and faucet, droplets will get on every bit of clothing, and everything around the perp, and ejected with enough force that the perp will leave a "shadow" on the wall and ceiling, much like placing an object on a surface being spray painted to leave a void in the coverage.

Then you track down the package, and lay an appropriate ambush so a well deserved beat-down can be administered, accompanied by "an offer you can't refuse".

“Openly genderfluid” Sam Brinton, the MIT grad who joined the Joe Biden administration earlier this year as the deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the U.S. Department of Energy, has been accused of stealing another woman’s luggage at the airport on top of the previous accusation.

Investigators with 8NewsNow revealed on Thursday that Brinton has been accused of stealing from the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and a felony warrant has been issued.

“A felony warrant was issued for Sam Brinton, a deputy assistant secretary, sources said. The charge is for grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000, records showed,” reported the outlet.

The outlet provided no other details of the allegation beyond what initial sources revealed.

Sam Brinton was charged with a felony last month for allegedly stealing a woman’s luggage at Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) International Airport on September 16. The theft reportedly occurred when a woman arriving from New Orleans went to the baggage carousel only to find that her navy blue Vera Bradley roller bag was missing. Per Alpha News:

The female victim, who estimated the bag cost $2,325, confirmed to police that the navy blue bag that Brinton took in the surveillance footage indeed belonged to her. Brinton later took an Uber to the InterContinental St. Paul Riverfront hotel where he checked in with the blue bag, according to the criminal complaint. He later returned to the airport on September 18 with the same bag in hand when he departed for Washington, DC.

On October 9, police questioned Brinton about the bag and if he “took anything that did not belong” to him. Brinton reportedly responded, “Not that I know of.”

Two hours after the interview, Brinton then allegedly called the investigating officer and admitted to not being “completely honest.” According to Brinton, he mistakenly took the navy blue bag due to him being tired from his trip and “got nervous” when, arriving at his hotel room, he realized that the bag belonged to someone else.

Not knowing what to do, Brinton then allegedly told police that he left the woman’s clothes in the hotel room drawers and took the bag with him anyway in order to keep up appearances.

Brinton has allegedly not returned the bag to the female victim and police said no clothing was recovered from the hotel room. His first court hearing is scheduled for December 19 in Hennepin County.

The New York Post confirmed the Biden administration placed Brinton “on leave about a month ago following the accusations.”
