Most of the time I get ignored whenever I tell people that we are NOT a democracy. Some want to argue. We are a Republic, not a democracy. This has to be the best 10 minute video, ever, that explains what all forms of government are. And we ARE a Republic.

We are a Representative Republic based around our Constitutional. As such, some refer to it as a Constitutional Republic or a Constitutionalist Republic. There is no such government as a Democracy... it's only a transitional form of government that will lead to a further breakdown in society and a lead up to the introduction to socialism/communism.

Edited to add: Every government who has claimed to be a government based around Democracy has been short lived after one majority ensured the minority never had another say!

The Heritage Foundation came out with a 6 hour special about 15 years ago explaining all the differences of a Monarchy, an Oligarchy, a Democracy and a Republic.

This 10 minute series just a short summary tip of the iceberg explanation of each one, but it's still good as a short to listen to in comparison to the 6 hour Heritage Foundation's version.

Personally, I prefer the Heritage Foundation's full version.

I always prefer the long version. This 10 minute one is great though, especially for those that really believe we are a democracy, and that democracy means freedom, when it's the total opposite. Also for those that barely have a 10 minute attention span.
