I suspect she was in the wrong because she started out disobeying a law (leash law) and IME, once a law breaker gets confronted the situation can deteriorate.  But I do think this is a lesson well learned ... expect to get video taped if a confrontation escalates.

Having called LE  couple of times there are a couple of standard questions that should be answered to the best of our ability.  1.  Sex of the offender.  2.  Race.  3.  Clothing.  4.  Estimated height.  I don't want LE to accost a black 16 yr old about 5'8 when I'm calling on a 5' tall white woman about 40 yrs old. Or vise versa.

Yes, her dog was off leash where it should not have been.  She acted unhinged in the video,

Yes, in the video, she did.  I would have liked to see the earlier interaction.  I wonder that when she saw him recording she why didn’t just walk away.

I had a run in with another shopper at the market. They don’t have direction arrows on the floor and three different times people I followed down the cleaning product row, turned around and walked directly toward me.  Each time, I backed out so they could leave.  Finally, I decided I would be there all day so I started to enter the aisle again and a man pushed in front of me, so I let him pass and then followed him.  Then he turned around and came toward me.  I asked him to please maintain 6’ between us and stop walking toward me.  He went ballistic and started calling me names and told me to get out of his way.  I held my breath and squeezed past him and kept going.  As I passed I said he could have avoided the problem by not changing directions.  Then he really got angry and said Where does it say I can’t walk where I want to?  I said it doesn’t, but we are supposed to be 6’ apart. By then I was at the far end of the aisle and walking away so I kept walking. He shouted, You are crazy!  Anyway, I got to the register and I was not very happy. The checker said something about my mood and I apologized, and told him what happened.  He said, Next time, hit him with your basket.  I said What?  He said push the grocery cart toward him until he is forced to back up. Whoa, talk about escalation.  The point of this very long story is that we all deal with things differently and that the big markets don’t do very well at distancing.

Remember the "entitled white woman". That can apply to any age.  People generally don't like being told what to do even by authority figures.  Add in general frustration, a racial component and a broken law, all bets are off.

Maybe she is a Karen in training. Maybe her dog was loose elsewhere and ran to the bird area.  Maybe she has been a past victim of violence and took self defense training.  Maybe he threatened her outside of the video.  Or maybe it is just as it appears and she is exactly what she appears to be.

I bet on this:   "Or maybe it is just as it appears and she is exactly what she appears to be."

I do too and I did when I posted it, but I thought that would be a very dull discussion.  I guess no one else but has has an opinion on it.
