I'm really beginning to wonder if there is any reliable information about each state's coronavirus status

I've seen a few county numbers that seem real and one or two states, but since testing is so uneven, even the best reporting system is questionable.

The numbers seem plausible for several states. I just question if any state, however, really has good reporting systems in place, especially on the critical questions of deaths, positivity rate, hospitalizations, and available beds,   I guess as long as the numbers are plausible and consistent day to day that we're probably receiving the best information we can get at this chaotic time.

Don't forget some deaths at home are designated as something other than Covid. Plus there are those with "colds" that weren't tested but....

Contact tracing is a real issue here.

We're probably never be able to include those deaths in the statistics, but, if all states are omitting them, then the numbers we receive from local news media are probably consistent throughout the nation.  I guess at this point, all I hope for is consistency day to day -- nothing too erratic.

I think I saw that contact tracing in Georgia was 8% yesterday, but I can't find the source for that information.  I will keep looking.  That means that it's a real issue here, too, especially as the number of new cases and hospitalizations continue to increase.

It's just amazing that so few governors are mandating masks.  We'll see a lot more record setting days if they don't take action.  The link doesn't list the record setting day for Georgia.  Perhaps July 10 with 4484, although it was such a big jump, I think I questioned that number at the time,

You noted in a post today (Thursday) that Kemp has overridden local masks mandates.  I will comment on that later.

And another state speaks up.  You know how we have "anti-vaxxers"?  We now have "Fake Covid".  ETA I like "Covid Hoaxers" better.

"“We are perpetuating a lie,” one woman who said she has five grandchildren said. “COVID is a hoax. It’s a lie. It’s a political stunt," The Salt Lake Tribune reported"

Utah meeting on masks is canceled when residents without masks pack room
"This is the exact opposite of what we need to be doing," a county commissioner said to boos. "We’re supposed to be physically distancing, wearing masks."

At least one county commissioner had the good sense to remind the group that they were not complying with guidelines.   I have difficulty with those who assert, as that lady did, that it's a fraud, that it's political stunt.  Of course Utah doesn't have the outbreak that Arizona or Georgia has, so she's not yet had a member of the family or a friend or neighbor get really sick or even die from it.

Utah has had 31, 233 cases with 233 deaths and a positivity rate of 8.9,  More than half of the cases and deaths are in Salt Lake County.

They haven't had to call for refrigerated trucks because the morgue is full or get daily reports on the availability of ICU units.

I guess she is still capable of dismissing reality.  After all, if the president can, so can she.

I think it worth noting that the governor of Utah is a Republican.

I agree, I cannot fathom saying 1) this s a hoax or fake news; or 2) the departments of health in 30+ states are deliberately exaggerating the numbers to scare people.

How quickly we forget.  60 million Americans got H1N1 and the administration at the time did nothing except stop testing so there weren’t any good numbers to talk about in the news.
