First of all... are you sure the two are related?
Age is another possible cause, but you may not have realized it just yet.
As for diet cola... hmmm... I'm not for diet anything.
I don't like sugar replacements... they just don't taste right.
I've never liked the taste of anything that said diet... maybe because of the sugar replacement additive, but not sure. The taste just wasn't right for my taste buds.
I do not go for anything 0 calorie or "less/no fat", etc. regardless of what ever it is. I like natural nature flavoring, not man made alternatives. First of all, they natural and secondly, many man made alternatives have had other bad effects.

I do not eat anything with sugar on a daily basis.
I drink coffee daily with regular sugar (2 teaspoons) per cup. And have 2 to 3 cups a day. Jams, chocolates, most deserts, etc. use sugar... American desert products use more sugar than other countries around the world.

Sugar is promoted here in the USA to boost the job market, not because it is healthful.
That sounds like perhaps a marketing ploy? I don't know of any Asian markets that actively promote sugar!

Look at Asia. They do very well (or used to until they started using American eating habits) without it on a daily basis.
So then is it the sugar... or the American eating habits that's the cause of the problem?

Using sugar daily can react with American antibioics, steroids and penicillin and cause systemic candida (aka yeast infection, jock itch) in parts of the body never seen by the public, let alone those that are seen.
So then... why do American antibiotics, steroids and penicillin cause systemic candida but not other Asian country's antibiotics, steroids and penicillin?

Sugar causes weight gain, makes kids hyper and affects the teeth in a bad way.
Over use of sugar will cause weight gain and can cause kids to become hyperactive if given too much. (The key is too much)! Tooth decay is more related to bad brushing habits than actual sugars. However, carbonated beverages will erode the enamel around teeth causing a quicker decay... and of course, most of those beverages use gum Arabic and other high glucose acid by products which are NOT natural sugars, but man made by product sweeteners.

I enjoy fresh fruit eaten without sugar.
Many fruits have natural sweet tastes without sugars. As they are not man made... they are healthy.

The little bit of sweetener in coffee, tea or diet drinks is small and without the addicting side effects of sugar.
It's actually the sweeteners and not the natural sugars themselves which are more harmful.

He bought low sugar shortbread for the kitchen cookie jar.
Low sugar sounds good, but what replaces that sweet taste instead of natural sugar? That's what you have to watch out for.

How many people using artificial sweeteners hide desserts all over the house?
It's the artificial sweeteners... and not the actual sugar itself that's the cause of a good majority of problems.
Just look at Asia. Likewise, Belgian chocolates are no where near as sweet as American chocolates but actually taste better!
Cakes and other deserts in the US are also tons sweeter than other European or Asian cakes and other deserts as well.
Bottom line: Artificial sweeteners... and not necessarily sugar itself... are more of a problem.
Anything that says calorie off, calorie free, reduced sugar, less fat, fat free, is not as good for your body as the real thing!

I am beginning to think that my eyes were going through a cleanseby switching brands of diet cola. I have been trying to get rid if a horrible yeast infection of the eyes caused by too many prescription eye drugs guven to me by an MD. All of a sudden I can see better than before.
I can read without glasses but at different distances. All thanks to an MD and prescription steroids and antibiotics.
Ahhhhh... and you've stumbled onto yet another problem widely abound within the US, but not necessarily so elsewhere in the world.
Prescription drugs... more people in the US have more allergies than any other country in the world.
And with all those allergies, they are issued prescription drugs to counter those allergic effects.
And with those prescription drugs, you're also issued additional drugs to counter the side effects of the initial drug you were issued.
So to fix an allergy, you need a drug which has a side effect which requires another drug. Only problem is... the originally issued drug doesn't cure the allergy... it only staves it off requiring you to return again and again and again to get the prescription drug and the counter-effect reducing drug in a never ending story.
I'm going to start a new poll in here about drugs/medicines to prove my point. https://forums.delphiforums.com/opinionpolls/messages/?msg=4492.1
Americans have more allergies and are issued more drugs than most other countries around the world.

Sigh. I will just have to disagree on most of yor points.
Asians are not co-dependent on drugs the way Americans are. Antibiotics, steroids and penicillin are not really bad unless the users consume high carbs in sweets and dairy. What American knows that? Only those who cannot get rid of a candida infection. Asiansoo use traditional herbs and foods to balance the body. Until Nixon opned up trade with China diabetes was very rare over there. Not so now. They now have MacDonald's. Only in America do people over eat on sweets.
So you basically disagree to agree, but then go on to point out agreeing points! Interesting if I must say so.
Why aren't Asians co-dependent on drugs the way Americans are? Is it the drugs themselves that cause the drug co-dependence or is it the other artificial food stuffs that cause the co-dependence?
Do high carbs in sweets and dairy products cause the drug co-dependence or does the artificial sweeteners cause that?
Those are the points which you seem to want to disagree with me about, but do you really disagree with me? Your answers to the above questions will more or less guide your reply.
