Will try to come up with a list for you. Another pet peeve is when newspapers, who I THOUGHT had word processing software, print what I call Random Hyphenation, which includes hyphenating single syllable words. Example CRI-MEFIGHTING. Be-droom is another; I have a list. Also, prepositions mean PRE as in BEFORE; they do not go in the middle of a sentence (President Biden Wednesday said that he...) when it should be On Wednesday, President Biden said...
Does no one know how to write proper English any more? Today while waiting in the queue to buy groceries, I saw a magazine called "The Royals" with a page on "How to Speak the Queen's English," and thought to myself I speak AND write the Queen's English but you lot are using the King's. <evil grin>

Unfortunately the President cannot sack him; only the Board that appointed him can remove him, and I don't see that happening any time soon.

Please use your purple pens. If I can remember the next time I'm out I'll look for one & start using it.
Ramped up doesn't bother me like the other word does. People seem to use it a lot. I have no idea how it got started...lol

I've not noticed the sound of the pencil & paper but I have heard the nails on the blackboard & hope that I don't ever hear it again.

Absolutely will use purple pen, and green too :-)
Not sure why ramped up bothers me so much but it does. Also, what do you call people who use Twitter? Tweeters? I thought Twits, but that's not nice in the UK although not sure in US (means a foolish or silly person, which does mesh with what I think of Twitter but that's me). Twitterers?
I think we all know what a ramp is..the noun. Perhaps that's why using it as a verb bugs me; that something to make life easier for the disabled is somehow transitioned into a word for increase, enlarge, extend, lengthen, bolster, and other perfectly good words. I'm aware that my vocabulary is both colourful and deplorable but I also am careful to observe the nuances of language.
"The other word" is the one that rhymes with duck? A much over-used word, true, but also fascinating as the only infix in the English language. I prefer the Irish "feck" which is so mild it can be used in front of a priest. Then again, unfeckingbelievable and absofeckinglutely don't carry quite the same impact, do they.

Reminds me of a picture somebody sent me via E-mail about 6 or so years ago but I CANNOT POST it here as it would be considered pornography, but I cracked up laughing when I first saw it.
It's a picture showing the naked rear end of a woman bent over.
It had one arrow pointing to the woman's private area and labelled t##t.
It had another arrow pointing to the woman's arse and it said s##tter.
Then it had a oblong circle in the area between the two arrows and said that region was Twitter.... between t##t and s##tter! (* ROFLMAO *)

ROTFLMAO!!! that was brilliant! Good on someone for thinking of it. The area between is Twitter oh LOL! What a great way to end my year, thanks for that!

Glad you enjoyed it...
They say a picture says a thousand words, but that picture which I cannot post here said 10,000 words! (* CHUCKLE *)

No, they can’t write decent English, they introduce spelling and grammatical errors and use sloppy writing techniques.
