I have been having a blast making beads with tinted tls in dots and swirl patterns, kind of faux swirl lampwork.  I can't decide whether I should coat them with flecto and make them really shiny & glassy or just leave them the way they are.

Did you tint the TLS with oil paint?

Yes yes yes! Those are gorgeous!! I've been playing with TLS myself, trying to do some faux lampwork beads. Not ready to show any, though. ;-)

This is one of those clay things that is just SO much fun.  There is a great faux lampwork with tls article in the brand new Bead & Button.  Very different direction from mine and some great tips.  She puts the tls on when the beads are HOT.

Yes!! I just got my copy today. I tried to devour it, but was so busy with some other projects I only skimmed her article. I do so love that magazine... I'm intrigued by her doing it hot, I wonder if that helps?

If those don't look like some of the glass beads in my collection, I don't know what does! Way cool Lib!

I think it's supposed to keep the tls from spreading out.  I am going to try it but the problem is how to hold the hot bead and hot metal skewer and apply the tls without dropping the bead or burning myself.  ACK!  I can't use wooden skewers because they make my beads crack.
