If it's not too late, I'd suggest taking advantage of the local sales as opposed to ordering unless you get free return shipping. I returned three highly rated team favorites because they aren't manufactured with any kind of consistency. The companies take bids for each new parts order, apparently, and maybe for each year's manufacturing as well, because the quality is all over the place even for the same brand and model. This is important because ovens heat and cool to maintain a temperature. A good oven only cools a very small amount before it comes on again. A bad one can have outrageous spikes. I had one highly-regarded model that rapidly spiked from 200 to 400 degrees! Back and forth---you can imagine how my pieces came out. Returned that one. :-)

Thank you so much for this wealth of information! I'm only half way through and I've learned so much. I got busy during the holidays so I'm still on my hunt for the "oven" may be a conventional that I heard about after all. Thanks again and you can be sure I've bookmarked all your referrals!

Hi Windchimes, My pleasure! Though lots of PC folks use their kitchen ovens or toaster ovens, convection ovens are used by a fair amount of folks, especially people who cure a lot of pieces or larger pieces. However, I do seem to remember that there were some posts (or at least questions) about the Halogen oven sometime in the past. Happy Claying!

I just use my kitchen oven, have been using it for good heavens, I'm guessing about 20 years for polymer clay and for food. So that's an option also.

Hah! I was just browsing through, saw this interesting topic, saw this post and thought, "Yeah! That happened to me, too"

It *was* me.
