Hello, All,

I saw an update message in my Inbox and decided to see if anyone's posted lately. Seems awfully quiet around here. Mike, Bob, Triff, Sue? I guess it's just us chickens.

How are you all doing?

I'm working with a physical therapist to try to get strong, but it's not easy! And I've gained too much weight and now have to lose about 35 pounds. Yikes. Otherwise, I guess I'm okay.  I've been to see my pulmonologist and my cardiac doctor, and nothing's changed. Got my flu and pneumonia shots from my primary care doctor, and I'm all set for the winter. It's the first cold day here of the season. It was 28 F. early this morning but is a toasty 37 F. now, at around 11:30 a.m.

I'm editing some very interesting books and keeping as much out of trouble as I can. I hope you all are well and happy!

Lots of love,

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie I am glad you posted as I have been meaning to do that.

Keep up that therapy for as long as you can Bonnie. If you went to your specialists and nothing changed that means you are staying strong or at the same level/steady.

I am becoming a little more able to do some things but under terrible pressure at the moment which can of course upset everything.I am NOPING and doing as many things as I can to remain where I am too.

I am glad you are set for the winter.Which Pneumonia shots do you have?I have flu but was told its good to have both.Flu is free but not Pneumonia.

For me it is very difficult in summer and any hints on what to do to survive high temperatures at home would be helpful.I keep cold watering fridge plus icepacks in freezer.I also have a spritz spray of water and lavender essential oil.Calming and adds moisture

Hope everyone else is OK too.We should check in with a simply Hi or something every now and then

Triff   thinking of all of you and hope you are coping out there

Good to hear from you, Triff. I cannot tolerate high temperatures either, but we have air-conditioning, so that takes care of that. Some days one just doesn't go outside at all. I've found there's more activity on the Inspire website in the COPD group, by the way. You might want to try that if you haven't already.

Hi Miss Bonnie! :-)

Boy time flies now days.... Been doing just okey, been real SOB but I guess I'm just going to live with it for now, Been told not much more they can do for me. So I'm going to do some things I was told not to do, and one is not to travel. Well December 14th I'm talking Gage to Disney world for a few weeks. And if that goes good I'm going to Phoenix Az this summer to visit some old friends. We'll see! Starting to get cold here now so I stay in most of the time, and in the summer I do too. I well say it did get up to 60 yesterday and for the next few days it's going to be sorta nice. At least for Michigan anyway, But it won't last long!  LOL! Glad to hear your still doing your physical therapy it does work. I did that about 5 years ago and it helped me a bunch. So keep working, you may be putting on weight because mussel ways more the fat. At least that's what they told me! Good to hear from you Bonnie... You take care!!      Mike

PS  Hi every one, Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving!

Hi Bonnie, Triff and Mike,

I had a good Thanksgiving and hope you all did also. And now trying to get things together for Christmas.

I am still coughing since shortly after starting on the Spiriva inhaler. Think is getting less so may have been allergies or am adjusting to the medicine. I have noticed it does help when walking uphill with my little dog but sometimes seem to get SOB for no reason at all, can just be sitting here on my laptop and will notice it. I know to be careful when out in the cold and I have my humidifiers out here in the house.

Good to hear, Bonnie that you are keeping up with the PT and all else is stable except your weight. I know I would like to lose some of the 15 pounds I gained when I quit smoking last year. Am not really over weight but I felt better with less pounds. I go to the gym twice a week and walk with my dog when the weather is good - he is only 10 pounds so does not do well in the cold or wind and is all black so does not do well in the hot sun in summer.

I had my flu shot also. Got my Prevnar 23 (Pneumonia shot) last year so am all set. Triff, your insurance does not cover the Prevnar 13 or 23 to help prevent pneumonia.

That is why I left Florida was I could not tolerate the heat anymore - did not have COPD at that time. It was getting harder and harder with the heat and humidity.

I am on another COPD site also but not sure I like it MyCOPDteam. I will have to look for the inspire one also.

Good for you Mike R , why did they tell you not to travel. I look at it we should do as much as we feel we want to and can do for as long as we can.

Well, time to take my little dog out and get ready for bed. Good night all....

Hi Sue,Bonnie and all .I am just catching up  as have been in a very nasty situation and the stress sleeplessness and heat have sapped my little strength. It became impossible to move more than one step and O2 was very low.Interestingly I needed to ask a Social worker to visit on another matter and she asked permission to see if the hospital could help any better.I was surprised but anything would be better than nothing.

Sue I need to pay for the pneumonia shot but get the flu one free.I cant understand why government doesn't do both.We do pay nearly$50 as a retired persons price.Drs are subsidized .

I am so glad Mike is traveling and doing things with the family. Its important to enjoy them and create lovely memories.

I must take note of those forums Sue and Bonnie put up too

Sue I agree losing weight will help your breathing.I have managed to lose a good bit and without that roll around my middle there is more room for my lunch to relax.Small meals are better for me too as a too full tummy makes for harder breathing and all your  energy goes in processing food which means breathing is compromised

Hi Triff and Bonnie

Sorry you have been having such a rough spell.

Hope the social worker can get the hospital to help you.

Is a shame they (government) will not pay for the pneumonia shot. From what they are saying here the flu shot this year is basically useless - they say only about 10% effective - hope we are all in that 10%.

How are you doing Bonnie? Hope doing OK as the holidays approach - well actually almost here.

Triff, sounds like the heat where you are is bad right now - that is why I had to leave Florida. We had snow over night and today and the next few days are going to be very very cold - in the single digits for lows so we will probably have ice as some of the snow melted and we also had some rain and sleet. Can do without the ice - do not want to fall.

Triff, I am not too impressed with the other COPD site. There are a lot of people on it. But it seems the site crew ask questions for everyone to share answers. You can also post to other people but have not found it to be as friendly as here.

Hope you feel some better soon, Triff.

Bonnie - rather the cold then hot and humid. Can always put on more clothes but can only take off so much - that is what I always say.

Happy Holidays to you also.
