Congratulations on taking that all important first step with cessation - putting that last cigarette out and getting started.
Chances are you don't feel 'ready' to quit and you're experiencing a mixture of sadness, loss, anger and fear, wondering how on earth you're going to make it through the next few hours, let alone the next few days, smoke-free.
Relax.

Thanks for the welcome. My name is SusanBW and I have my Chantix bought and I am going to start it on Jan 8th. My goal is to have my last cigarette before or on Jan 23rd as this is my 54th birthday. I have been smoking for 41years and yes that means that I started inhaling and smoking pretty much regularly at age 13. I did quit a couple of years ago using Chantix but only for 2months. Then I was feeling better and thought I could be a “social” smoker. That worked as well as being a social heroine user and I was back at it full force in a matter of days. On the bright side, I now know that the last cigarette must be the last cigarette without even a puff. I am hoping the Chantix and this group make that possible for me. ( no pressure everyone ??) I am looking forward to meeting you all and talking our way through this. Happy new years!!

Hey Susan
Happy New Year to you, too!! It's great that you have made the decision to free yourself of this addiction in 2018 and to do so before your 54th Birthday. It's definitely the best gift you could possibly give yourself.
As you've managed to quit for a couple of months before, you will know what to expect during the early part of your quit. Here you will learn how to cope with the various stages and you will find many suggestions on ways to make the journey more comfortable and also to ensure that your quit is your 'forever quit'.
Many people use different quit aids very successfully. Here's an article on chantix which may be of interest to you:

Whichever method of quitting we choose, education and preparation are very important so read and post here on the Forum as much as you possibly can. I could not have quit without the information and support I received here.
Looking forward to hearing a lot more from you as you prepare for your quit.

Hey Bev
Happy New Year!!
I do hope that 2018 is the year you manage to quit smoking one day at a time forever. I know you can do it.
I've been looking back through some of your old posts and particularly during November 2016 which I believe was when you started a long quit of 7-8 months. One thing that struck me was your sheer determination at that time. You would not allow anything or anyone to ruin your quit. I am totally confident that you can get that determination back again. Try to lose the 'I'll smoke when I have money and quit when I'm broke' mentality. Just quit and stay quit whatever your circumstances are.
Looking forward to speaking to you a lot over the next few weeks. We are all here to support you and we all know that you can do this!!!
