Last night I had my first smoking dream and man, was it REAL.  I woke up actually thinking I had really smoked 2 packs of Virginia Slims (even when I was smoking, I hadn't smoked that brand in at least 10 years!)  I think it was brought on by an outdoor gathering in this nice fall weather in NY; this is my FAVORITE month coming up and we were all outside, having some drinks and 2 people were smoking at the table.  This was the first time I ever thought "you know, I think I can have just one".

Not fair!!  I'm almost 11 months in and I can see the Clubhouse from here.   I did remember the literature:  "you can't have just one, you're an addict.  That's Nicodemon whispering in your ear."  Mostly, though, I REALLY don't want to throw away 11 months, I don't think I could ever do this again if I had to.  But man, that dream was REAL!!!

Ok, deep breath, marching on, 10/9 is my Clubhouse day and 11/2 is JR's and that's my birthday too!!  There are no coincidences :)

Thanks for listening!

Gloria,

I am excited for the September group too. It is very exciting watching other people get to the clubhouse.

I’ve spent two days now making apple butter in my crockpots. The first batch made five quarts and I have a second batch started. Got a great deal on a bushel of Rome apples at the flea market and couldn’t pass them up. Usually make two batches a year but I’ll either have three or four batches this year. I like really cinnamon-y apple butter so I put in three kinds of cinnamon- ground, oil and then cinnamon red candies.

I was reading an article last week where someone was talking about apple butter and peanut butter sandwiches. At first it didn’t sound very good but I tried it and wow it was delicious! So that’s my new favorite sandwich for now.

Hope your weekend has been exciting.

Shelley,

We are actually just one day apart from the clubhouse. I get there 10/10... the day after you get there! Woohoo! Gloria and Molly are going to throw us a big bash when we get there.

I had the cruise booked for Nov. 2nd earlier in the year but canceled it after some health concerns. My cardiac checkup went really good so I rebooked the cruise again. Also had a cruise booked to Bermuda out of Charleston, SC next Saturday but canceled it too after the cardiac stuff. I would not have taken that one anyway with this hurricane bouncing around out there so I guess that part worked out better.

I booked a room in Cherokee, NC this coming weekend and also a train ride. Have always wanted to do a train ride.

Hope you are having a great weekend. We are very close to our eleven month celebration!

Thanks Blue,

I was glad to have it finished. I gave it to the soon to be parents today and they seemed really pleased with it.

I am also working on knitting them a set of 8 baby washcloths too. They each have something different baby style- a bottle, a rattle, carriage, pacifier, diaper pin, moon and stars, and my two favorites in the set...a baby handprint and a baby footprint too.

Two of the 8 are finished and blocked and two others are halfway finished.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend and holiday. I’ve made two batches of crockpot apple butter this weekend and I’m about give out. It’s a tiring task even when using a crockpot.

Hey Molly! Hope you’ve had a good holiday weekend. I highly recommend taking up some hobby. I have way too many of them and can’t imagine life without hobbies. My house would be a lot less cluttered if I gave up a few hobbies. I have considered getting rid of my piano because I don’t play it anymore. Every time I try to play it DaVinci tries to pull my hand away from the keys. I think it might hurt his ears so I have pretty much given up that hobby.

As for DaVinci, he is doing great health wise. I have considered an animal behaviorist though because he barks at people like he is going to eat them up. It scares people but once he can get to them he starts licking them to death.

We are heading to Cherokee NC for three days next Sunday and plan to do a train ride. This is a consolation trip as we were supposed to be leaving from Charleston SC this Saturday on a cruise to Bermuda. I canceled the cruise and with this hurricane hanging around out there I am glad I did. Anyway, so he will be in boarding for four days. If he was more sociable around other people and other dogs we could take him places with us, but as high strung as he is that isn’t an option at all.

JR,

OMG....that cinnamon apple butter sounds so deliciously Yummy. I Love apple butter and would love to try some cinnamon butter. Making apple butter in crock pots??!! Wow, you are SO crafty. How did you learn to do all of that stuff!! Like you the peanut butter and apple butter does not sound like something I would like...I will take your word about that tasting great.

Keep doing those crafts and your non-smoking journey. See you at the Clubhouse soon.

Let's keep kicking Cig butt...How Sweet it is!!

Gloria,

I am back home from my trip. The train ride was really an awesome experience.

We went to the casino in Cherokee NC and I was playing machines that I am familiar with(all of them in smoking areas). Every time someone sitting beside me smoking it really bothered me. That was surprising to me because I was concerned that being that close to smoking would make me want a cigarette. If anything, it made me glad I no longer smoke. The casino has a rather small non smoking area and I ended up playing there a large part of the time.

I am ready to get to the Clubhouse. Seems like time is moving slowly the past month.

Hope you are having a great week!
