Hey! I'm new here, My name is Henrique. I'm 35 and have been a smoker since 18 yo. I quit a couple of times. The longest I ever went without smoking was about 2 years. I have been smoking over a pack a day since 2018 since my last relapse. I'm so happy I've finally made this decision once more. 48 hours and I already feel like I can breathe better. I was waking up in the middle of the night and having to use my inhalor because my lungs were killing me. I have been drinking a lot of water and have been cleaning the house, doing all sorts of things to keep my hands and mind occupied and it's working!

Welcome Henrique. You will not regret it. From your prior quit you know that the first weeks are tough. I also had a 2+ year quit and relapsed during COVID. Requit last January. Post with any questions or feelings. The December 2022 Ex-Smokers channel also has some good information.

Thanks Paul! last night was pretty rough, by I'm getting close to 72 hours now! This page has been helpful, have to keep myself busy. I keep hearing the third day is the worst, I definitely felt it this morning. but hanging in there.

After 3 days nicotine is generally out of our internal systems. Afterwards it's psychological. I view the urges as declining in a somewhat random manner, and different for everyone.

Yesterday was pretty mild, kept myself occupied all day. I feel like it's screaming at me now. Had to log on to distract myself to do something else. It will pass. The urge came on various times today, and it went away eventually, they just keep popping up more than prior days. I feel so much better already though, no way I'm giving up!

Keep on keeping on. One day at a time. You are on Day 3. Amazing! You are doing this. Keep doing what you are doing. You have had a successful quit before. Draw from that time in your life. I have every confidence in you that you can and will beat this addiction. God bless your quit!

It can be random when urges occur, but even in the beginning they are not terribly long. Good you are staying occupied and have something to distract you when they come. Logging on here, reading, puzzles, crosswords, water, video games, even chocolate.
