Hello Ya'll, I have just completed 3 days of cold turkey quit. Starting my 4th this morning. I have been smoking for 43 years with 2 quits (breaks I guess) of about 9 months each. I am hoping this one sticks! I have no anxiety, am not cranky, I have had a headache and I am tired. This all sucks because I wanted the withdrawal to be worse so that I would not want to go through it again. I don't want myself to think it's easy to stop, if you know what I mean. Can someone tell me it gets worse than this?

Everybody is different, Rich. Nicotine is out of our system after 3-4 days so afterwards. Most of what I read is the physical addiction lasts 2-3 weeks. After that it's all psychological.
For most people I think it gets worse after 3-4 days, during the physical addiction period, but again every crave is different. In my current and prior quits, I wasn't very anxious or cranky. I slept a lot the first month. I relapsed in prior quits from craving 'one' generally in a triggering situation.
Good luck, Paul

Thanks Paul, I really don't remember how bad my last "quits" were. Don't get me wrong I do have strong cravings, but I just take a deep breath and distract myself with something to do.

That's the best you can do. Distraction whether mental, physical, or psychological all helps.
