It is a cold one here today in SW Michigan ! I have lived here all my life and so has most of my family.
Prior to quitting I was coughing before, during , and after smoking a cigarette. My guess is there is some lung damage and hopefully not cancer. I will talk to my medical Dr about it at the next appointment. There is some lung scan specifically for ex smokers but I am not sure how long the quit has to be before the scan.
I grew up around adult smokers from the day I was born. My parents smoked, my Aunts and Uncles smoked and 1 Grandparent. My Mom chained smoked when she was pregnant with me . She told me that Drs didnt know back then that smoking was harmful to a fetus. Really Mom ? She couldnt figure that out on her own?
I am very aware of how anger contributed to my fail last quit. I have been more angry off and on before this quit. I think being in chronic pain and having chronic illness for over 20 years has really worn me down. Dealing with the medical community for so long and frequently is just no fun. I was a Registered Nurse for about twenty years before becoming disabled . It is no fun being on the other side as the chronic patient.
I have a 26 year old son. He is my favorite person in the whole world. He lives less than a mile from my house. He has a hard time being supportive when I try to quit smoking because I have quit so many times in the past. He has not had an addiction (thank goodness!) . I think it is hard for him to relate to such things.

Quit day Feb 2

Lisa,
Congats on day 2! Yay!! I didn’t have a lot of coughing to watch get better, but noticed I could breath better within the first week. I hope the coughing keeps going away for you. It’s wonderful to see and feel the body healing, I think.
I see the January thread now, thanks! I think there’s still a place to pledge NOPE, but I don’t know where. If I find it, I’ll let you know.
I was thinking I’d go out to eat with family, but that isn’t going to work out, so I may ask my husband to pick something up from a restaurant on his way home for me to eat. Not the biggest reward, lol, but I’ll enjoy it.
We”re eating out for my daughter’s birthday one night this week, so I suppose I could count that as my 1 month reward meal. It’ll be fondue, so kinda fancy!

Hey there…
Click the drop arrow on the top left under discussions. Set it to all. This should open all of the folders. Scroll down until you see the “Quit Buddies Unite” folder. January thread should be under that.
NOPE was usually posted u dear General Chit Chat. I’ll start one and cc you…
Hope you all are doing ok! Keep on keeping on…. One day at a time does the trick.

Yesterday and today so far challenging for sure. Day 1 was easier. I didnt sleep well last night. Need a nap , but have to wait until after my groceries have been delivered and they have not started shopping yet, must be busy .
Sun is out today and not as cold as yesterday. I think I will just veg in the recliner for a while and write in my journal and have the TV on. I cant sit in silence because of my constant tinnitus and I am in no mood for music.

Thanks Jerthie. Day 3 - so far each day is harder but I will continue to push thru. Very tired. The awful cough that was often a choking cough is improving each day .
