Anne, you are so awesome. And you make a really good point about the initial withdrawal taking only days, not weeks. That is the typical experience for most ex-smokers and certainly what newcomers to this site need to hear. Nicotine has a short half life and withdrawals only take a couple of days. I need to be mindful of that when I overshare/post about how I struggled for weeks--my experience is not typical and was most likely exacerbated by how my brain is wired (history of alcoholism and addiction, now in remission thank god).
Anyway, hope everyone is having a great week!!!!! Every day I wake up as a non-smoker is a gift. I am finding that I am sleeping better--maybe for the obvious reason I'm not waking up in the middle of the night to smoke. Yahoo!

Lisa,
Congrats on 3 weeks!!! I sure hope those antibiotics are starting to work for you. Keep those stickers going. Do you have a reward in mind for your one month? Can you believe that will be coming up so soon??

Hi Jenny,
Quick check in . Because of the ice storm I lost internet yesterday and power this morning. A big limb from my neighbors hit a corner of my house last night. The sound was disturbing and freaked me out . I am stressed. Still slowly recovering from illness. Not suppose to get my power back until 2/28.
I am at my sons charging gizmos. He has power but no internet because of storm. We don’t have unlimited data on the phones so can’t be on here long.
So I am going to throw in a huge NOPE.
Yay , today I am 3 weeks smoke free !
I hope you are doing well Jenny .

Lisa,
WOW!! So happy you’re safe! That’s a really long time to be without power. Yikes! I really hope they get it done faster than planned.
This week started out bad for you and just got worse and worse. Next week will most likely be better, right? Statistically speaking. Hang in there.

Hi Jenny
After being at my sons Friday since the morning hours, I moved myself and my stuff into my sons apartment Friday around 5pm and 3 hours later I received notification that my power was back on. He went to stay with his girlfriend in Northern Indiana because he has no couch and one bed. Anyhow , I am going to stay here until later Sunday so I can rest up , catch up on some sleep, and try to get my pain levels down. Thursday night and Friday morning were brutal at my house , so cold and I told my son I could no longer stay there without heat and basically invited myself to stay here.
I am going to have to throw out all my food at home in the fridge and freezer but I am okay with that. At least the tree didnt end up in my house.
I have been stressed and had a lot of smoking thoughts yesterday but I NOPED them away. I dont want to be a smoker. One of the times I cleaned up my sons kitchen and scrubbed the counters to get thru it.
How are you doing? What's up ? When is your 2 month?

Lisa,
That’s so great you’re able to stay at your son’s place. Nice that he’s able to stay with his girlfriend and cooperative with you inviting yourself over. I guess he gets a clean kitchen and counters out of the deal, huh? Good for you working through the cravings! You’ve had some crazy stress. Staying a non smoker is worth getting through those. I can’t believe how much better this month has been.
It had to be crazy cold at your place with no heat. No thank you! I hope you rest well and bring your pain down. So good your power is ready and waiting for you!
I wondered if that tree limb did any major damage to your house. We have a tree that’s right by our bedroom and I’m always afraid when we have bad wind, which we’ve had a lot of this winter. We get it trimmed every couple years, so I tell myself it isn’t likely to kill me in my sleep, lol. Anyway, I’m glad your neighbor’s branch didn’t go into your home!
I’m doing good. Still having a rough time kicking the end of whatever bug this has been. I think it’s some kind of monster cold that’s just holding on for dear life.
i got my splint off Thursday and my elbow is doing fabulous! The incision is pretty big, so expected it to hurt quite a bit, but it really barely hurts at all. Bodies are so weird! I slept Friday night for the first time in over 3 years without any elbow or wrist brace with neither of my hands waking me up with numbness or pain. It was absolutely wonderful!! I started to get ready to pull the covers over me to sleep and realized I didn’t need to strap a brace on, lol. It was SO weird. I had the carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel in both arms, so it was one of the other, or both that I wore braces for over the years. My goodness, it was so nice the past 2 nights to curl both my arms up!
My 2 months will be on March 4, which is coming up sooner than I realize with the short month. I haven’t picked out a reward yet, so I’ll have to put some thought into that.

Hi Jenny,
I am back home and living large with power AND internet again. My older brother helped me get my stuff home from my sons and we went and got some groceries since I had to throw all the food in the fridge and freezer out.
It appears the tree that hit the corner of my house damaged where the gutter drain connects to the house and the gutter is slanted in that area. At least from what I can tell from the ground. I am not allowed on ladders until my vestibular system is much better. Could of been a lot worse. My son is going to look at in a few days.
I didn't sleep very well at my sons apartment . The people that live above him were noisy and it reminded me why I hate living in apartments. I have not had to live in an apartment for 31 years . Hoping to get some good sleep in the coming days . Pain levels are still high.
I hate those monster colds that hang on for a long time. That's wonderful that you got your splint off and your elbow is doing fabulous. Yay no braces at bedtime too !
2 months on March 4th , that's awesome. You're doing this Jenny! You are a nonsmoker!
I am still getting those stinking thinking smoking thoughts at times . They just show up here and there involuntarily and an increase since Wednesday night because of stress I think. I self talk out of them pretty easily though. I don't want to be a smoker again . So many benefits already after just over 3 weeks.
