There is a low dose PET scan that is the best at early detection. I asked my doctor about it, and she said that insurance often won't cover it for routine screening. Basically, they would have to pick up something on a regular CT scan that needs to be monitored more closely. So for now, because I have ground glass nodules, I will continue to have my yearly CT scan.
Thanks for posting about this. We need to be ever vigilant after quitting. My father got lung cancer 17 yrs. after quitting. That scares me!
