Smokers are terrible idiots sometimes, for inviting emphysema, death.
INVITING
Hi Steve,
I'm still writing the Cats site. It will be 19 years on 2-20-2016. In fact we're opening a new forum on Delphi in another month or so, once I figure out how to set it up.
I don't know if you read my latest foray back to this forum, but I was diagnosed with lung cancer in September. It consists of two small tumors - one in each lung. My oncologist
thinks it can be treated successfully with Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy. Surgery has already been eliminated because of my emphysema and COPD.
I've committed to quit smoking Thursday, the 19th - my youngest son's 50th birthday. Coincidentally, it happens to be the Great American Smokeout day this year.
Wish me luck!
Franny

If nobody verifies it, then it's no good!
VERIFIES
Hi, Franny,
Why wait until Thursday? Are you psyching up to quit and you think it will take that long? I quit after 39 years of smoking and may failed quit attempts, and the Forum was a major support for me. There are various links for people who are just quitting and need support. The Toolbox link is very valuable in preparing for a quit. There is also a link on the right side of the webpage to the November quitters group. You might want to join that group so that you will be in with people who are in the same time frame as your quit. I'm in the Freedom Marchers 2015 group, having quit March 2015. Our Moderator is Dee, the same as the November Group monitor, and she has a lot of insight to offer.
I wish you all the luck in the world, and there's a world of experience right here in this forum. Please take full advantage and get away from this lousy addiction. After all, I want to keep on being able to read your column on About Cats!

Hi, Laura,
It started out as 5 letters -- see the first post in the thread -- then morphed into using a word of any length from the previous sentence to make a new sentence. I'm just going with the flow as it is now.
