In 3 days, it will be the anniversary of having to have 4 stents placed in my heart because of smoking. One would think that would be my actual quit date, but oh no - almost a month later I found a loose cigarette in a suitcase and did not have the discipline to destroy it. That is how powerful this addiction is. All the experts gave me harsh warnings of how smoking will kill me, and I still lit it up. Just like Alan Carr said, after i finished smoking it, I realized how I got absolutely nothing out of it. I have never lit another one, and I am determined that I never will.

Your quit story needs to be read by all new quitters. You've been through some of the toughest medical trauma that anyone could endure. Quitting this wicked tough drug addiction is no picnic. You proved to yourself that you do have the tenacity and strength to decide to never stick another cigarette in your mouth. That aha moment gave you the deciding factor. Be very proud of yourself. I wish you continued success in your health and your new life as a quitter for life. Best choice you could make!

Hi Matt, so sorry I missed your 11th month milestone. Congrats! I think we might be the only two left from our group, but we ARE doing this! I haven’t been online much lately but I’m still staying strong. Never going back! One year today! Stay strong my quit buddy!

You did it CherBear!!! Congratulations!! I just knew you would.
I think you are right. We are the only ones left from our little group, but I sure am grateful that you were right there with me, blazing my trail. There was more than once that I was tempted, but at least a small part of what held me back was not wanting to let you and the other wonderful quit buddies on this group down. Thank you for that!!

Thanks Matt! It has been a somewhat rocky road at times, but I do credit this group and quit buddies for helping me through the tough times. I am very grateful to be at this milestone. I will NEVER allow myself to go back to that nasty habit. If we were able to make it through this majorly stressful year, I think we can handle anything. You are right behind me my friend!

Happy 1 year Anniversary! What a tremendous gift you have given yourself! A little over a year ago, you had a little heart work done, changed your diet, then quit inhaling! Reward yourself for all the hard work and dedication you devoted this last year to being healthier. Welcome to the party!!!!
