Hey Anthony,
Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. Quitting isn’t the easiest thing to do but it is doable and it’s so worth it, more importantly, YOU are worth it. Please stay close to the forum, continue to read, post, join in, and reach out anytime. Stay in the moment and take it day by day, hour by hour, or minute by minute if necessary. You can do this and we’ll all be here cheering you on. I’m happy you’re here with us and I look forward to seeing you around the forum.
Best wishes for your success.

Hi Anthony,
So happy you have joined the forum. I also have smoked 40 years. I have attempted to quit a few times, however I was unsuccessful as I went back to smoking. I have found education, support and inspiration here. I also read Allen Carr and reference his book. This is a process, so if you need to vent, ask questions, send out help or celebrate a milestone, post it and someone will read. NOPE - not one puff ever.

Hi Denim and all,
I'm afraid I never made it through the night, went to bed and had a panic attack and smoked to calm me down. Will try again today, thanks for inquiring.
Kind regards
Anthony

Hi Anthony,
It is great to keep trying. It takes about three days to get most of the nicotine out of your system and if doing it cold turkey, it can be tough. If you have any craving, withdrawal symptom such as anxiety, panic attack, drink a large glass of ice water thru a straw, do deep breathing exercise or meditation, which can be found on you tube, run up and down stairs and if still having a problem, the forum has suggested to send out an SOS (as the subject) under Quit Support and wait for 3 members to answer before you give in to the crave. Also, read Quit Smoking Library and Quit Stories and Journals for additional distraction to ease over the panic attack or researching. You are a nicotine addict, not "just a smoker" and you have to go thru the withdrawals from the drug which will take about three days. Just keep trying and we are here to help. We've been there.

congrats Anthony,
Good to meet you.
This a journey. One we all must take and is unique to each of us, but we don't have to take it alone. I'll help you with yours if you help me with mine.
