Yeah. And if you experiment with it a while you soon realize that there is no way out. Once you are accused you are as good as dead

We just rented from Netflix this silent era movie/documentary based on witchcraft. It's somewhere between a lecture and one of those movies like "Reefer Madness" that try to tell you not to get involved cuz you'll get into big trouble. It has every bad stereotype and a dramatization of an old homeless woman being accused of witchcraft. It's a weird movie but kinda funny. There are also all kinds of men in demon costumes that made me laugh.

It's called "Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages" I think it's some sort of scandanavian film.

That's pretty much the way it was. If you were accused, in almost all cases, you were doomed.

I just started a new book, Kempler's Witch-- true story of how Joannes Kempler's mother was accused of witchcraft in Germany in the 1600's and survived. It's very interesting so far

Haxan finally came up on my Netflix queue and I watched it this weekend. Weird film, but very interesting!

Thanks for the recommendation

It is interesting. I'm not sure if I like the silent one better or not. The jazzy one with the narrator was a bit incongruous. But an interesting version of the paranoia that gripped the world.

:)
