Get cozy with yer cards... sleep with 'em (put them in yer pillow case so they don't slip away!), keep them with you.. let your energy soak into them... "play" with them.. shuffle them.. study the pics.. get familiar with them.. don't rush the process... I've used this process to "cleanse" my own deck with much success...

Yep-- What Saff said-- and take one card at a time and "learn" it. Start with one of the major arcana cards-- you can start with the Fool if you like and go through in numerical order. Study it, read about it, then try to feel it-- sleep with it under your pillow-- have it be the first thing you see when you get up and the last before you go to bed. Carry it with you-- find "Fool" images throughout the day (or whatever card you are on)

You have to really get to know each card in turn. It takes a while, but the effort pays off in the long run

wonderful ideas...I think I will actually try it

I did that the first time I bought them home

I treasured them...shuffled them...studied the intricate details of each picture...the smoothness on my hands...

(had to...they cost me $35...hehe)

thanks hun for the response!

Barnesandnoble.com has an online class section where they offer free classes.  One of the newer classes is on the tarot.  Also I have a few good links from when I was learning.  I will dig them out and post them on here tomarrow if you like.

Ok here are a few.

http://www.learntarot.com/top.htm - This is the same course b&n is offering only you do not have to wait for the next class to start as all the lessons are there.

http://www.corax.com/tarot/index.html - This has some nice information as well

http://www.byzant.com/tarot/ - This one does online reading, but has information on how to do readings of your own as well.

I hope some of those help you out.
