Hi! I just heard that Carl McColman's new book, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Celtic Wisdom" is out. Has anyone read this yet? (There were no reviews on Amazon so far.) I've really liked the other books Carl has written, so I think this will be great, too. Any thoughts?

Hmmmmm...I always thought that the words Idiot and Wisdom were mutually exclusive. I could be wrong. :)

I've never cared for the title--same goes for the "Dummies" series. (shrug)I overlook the title, and I've learned a lot from the books. Sometimes I want to say that just because I don't know something doesn't make me an idiot. I do want to learn...

We got the book in our last big shipment last friday. I chuckled when I read the title but haven't had a chance to take a look at it yet. I'll try to do that today.

I thought you'd probably seen this book. I've read Carl McColman's CIG to Paganism, Embracing Jesus and the Goddess, and The Well-Read Witch, which led me to some wonderful books. I really like this author...Let me know what you think of the CIG to Celtic Wisdom. And I would LOVE to come to your bookstore! What's it like?

What's my store like? Nothing special-- midsized mall store-- part of a major chain.

Ok, it's a freaking boring store...

LOL

Your store CAN'T be boring! It's a BOOK store! And it has YOU! I'd love to see it. (It's been awhile since I've been in a book store. I live in a small town which is quite a ways from a bigger town ((which is fine, in a lot of ways)), and a store about 60 miles from here closed about a year ago. THe day that closed was a day of mourning. It was an independent bookseller, jillions of books, people who knew about books, Grandfather clock, big armchairs, coffee, a few heavenly things to eat, smells of books and coffee, sigh...Hey, I think I just described Heaven.)

I don't think book stores are boring. I've never seen a boring book store. I love to browse throught them. And I don't care if they are chains or independents.

I would love to own an independent book store someday. It seems like they are disappearing because they can't compete with the chains and stay in business and that is a BIG shame.
:-(

An indie near my S.O's house had to close down a few months ago and the community was pretty upset about it. It had survived in the center of town for many many years but had to close down when the lease got too expensive. The good news is that they did find another store to lease but it is not as great a location as the old location. It will be open again in a few weeks

Ok-- it's only boring if you spend over 40 hours a week there
LOL
