What do you think of Johnny Depp's impression of the USA?

I agree with him. Then again, I'm supposed to be him, anyway. ;-)

Be your own hero.

I agree as well... but my favorite "anti-american" quote is from Dennis Miller: "Americans have the attention span of a ferret... on double espresso!"

:D

It's about seven posts long (for now)!

Since I've read the whole Depp quote in context now, I'm a little less pissed, myself. It's actually not that bad an analogy - America does tend to act in the world like a happy, innocent little puppy in many ways. To me that's better than many other ways to act.

And Miller's right about the ferret on expresso, too!

I have to admit...never read the post. Truth be known...I didn't care enough to. I guess I don't hold much stock in what "stars" say since all too often they say stuff almost as ignorant as Dubya. ; )

Yeah...I don't know what's worse - celebrity culture itself, or its further corruption by partisan media 'spin,' deliberately taking things out of context in order to make the comments of celebrities (whose opinions should matter no more or less than anyone else's) fit the media's ends. As Marvin Gaye once said, "Believe none of what you hear - and only half of what you see!"

Very true...News media are mostly made up of vultures. They'll twist most anything to suit their needs. I've dealt with a couple of stars and too many media types and neither really impressed me. The good thing is most of the media I've run into I've been able to bully them away from me as my job required me to. *G* Sometimes reporters remind me of politicians...willing to do whatever to get themselves ahead or make themselves too good.
