Honey...try tens of thousands! When I had my hernia fixed, it cost the isurance co. about five or six thousand dollars-for the anesthesia, the three hours I was there and the 45 minutes of surgery.
Sounds like you found a doctor like my dad's. Tells all the options, preferres the least damaging one and will call at home to tell important results. I almost find it hard to believe the Quack wanted you to go through such an invasive an scarring procedure with no tests! At least there ARE some decent people left in that profession!
**sorry about the mid-reading comments-I already warned ya that I'm annoying, though! <g>**

Thank you for adding a post to this thread. I really should have posted an update recently.

Last month I had a biopsy that came out clear. There was very little chance of cancer, but my doctor wanted to be sure.

I'm now taking the "watch and wait" option until at least June. The iron has my anemia under control, and exercise has helped the pain. I still have this huge fibroid, but I am in no hurry to have surgery and my doctor backs me up on this. In June, I will decide if I want to go ahead with the UFE or wait for another six months.

So far, so good

:-)

I'm so sorry that I couldn't be around to support youas you were going through this!

I'm glad things have turned around a bit, and will pray that they continue to do so!
