Well, I decided that it was time to get another Ball Python.

Those of you who have been around a while will remember Isis, my 5 1/2 foot Ball Python that I sold before I moved to California.
I've been thinking about getting another for a while and got Freya yesterday.

She's only a baby-- 2 1/2 feet long, but she'll be growing soon
:-)

Thanks
:-)

Yeah, she has really nice markings for a Normal Ball.
She's pretty hyper too for having just moved to a new home. Balls aren't as active as Boas, so she might be hungry. I'm going to wait a few days though before getting her a baby rat.

Ok-- lesson one on Ball Pythons

Ball Pythons are about the most docile snake you can have as an "animal companion" (heh heh, that's what PetCo calls pets)
They are almost never aggressive. The females may reach 6 feet maximum (Isis was 5 1/2) and the males about 5 feet. This is stretched-out length and really isn't that long when you consider that some boas and pythons can easily reach 10 to 15 feet or more.

They are also usually less active than boas. You only have to feed them once every week or so, (sometimes less in the winter or when they are shedding).

They don't wake you up in the middle of the night to go outside. They don't chew on your slippers. They don't cost a lot to feed. You can take them anywhere wrapped around your neck.. hehehehe. (And sometimes people don't even notice-- I used to take Isis with me often and most people didn't even realize I had a snake around my neck unless she started moving.)

They make incredible pets and you are much more likely to get bitten by a pet dog or cat than a snake.

So... not afraid any more?

Too cool. I love snakes, my mom has friends who have a traveling reptile show.

It seems like a lot of people can't just have one snake. I may get another (male) Ball eventually and see if I can breed them
