Hyundai recalls almost 45,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVs over detaching steering wheels
Hyundai issued a safety recall for nearly 44,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport SUVS after two reports of the steering wheel coming off.
A problem in the steering wheel assembly may have caused damage to the parts, leaving it with “insufficient breakage strength.” In the one report filed in the U.S., a consumer was using the steering wheel as leverage to lift up from the seat when the wheel broke off the steering column.
The recall involves 31,367 model year 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sports and 12,574 model year 2018 Santa Fe SUVs. So far, no injuries or accidents have been reported in relation to this issue.
