Slavoj Zizek: How Political Correctness Actually Elected Donald Trump

Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek thinks the U.S. political machinery is truly broken. He guides a verbal tour through the failure of manufactured consent, the appeal of human baseness, and politics as a real struggle of life and death.

Transcript - I know that even in the United States when you have someone like Donald Trump, I know that there is a lot of elitist liberal reaction. Like here we see the limit of democracy but in the wrong sense, in the sense that you see stupid ordinary people are seduced and so on and so on.

Well, although Noam Chomsky doesn't like me very much, I admire him sincerely and I must admit that I like his term. I think it's not just a journalistic term, it's a concept, which he took over from American tradition even mainstream right wing liberal of manufacturing consent. You know, Democracy is not only formal rules of elections, democracy is an entire thick network of how political consensus is built; a lot of unwritten rules. And now I think the United States are at a very important moment, at the moment when this machine to build consensus has broken down. Now these are moments which can be catastrophic. In such moments direct fascism can take over, but this can be also moments when the left, or whatever would be the new left, provides a new answer. So my first reaction to those elitists liberals who claim you see the stupid rednecks, white trash or whatever are voting for Trump, yes but it's your responsibility.

One moment of truth in all those enraged people who vote for Trump it that they nonetheless so clearly that this traditional machine of manufacturing consent no longer works. To put it in this slightly bombastic and exaggerated Marxist term, the ruling ideology mobilizes certain machinery to keep people in check, to control the excesses and so on. That machinery no longer works.

Slavoj Zizek is extremely distasteful to almost everyone, he swinging from one side to the other, he cannot make up him mind it he akin capitalism or communism… he insults Trump, but looks up to him and glad that Hillary didn't win…

He like Jeremy Corbyn for a specific reason that isn't clear, playing counter politics in spiteful aims…

He is an Atheist but he sometimes believes in 'Miracles' here and there??

Now I need to wash my face, he spits so much I'm scares to catch some socialist virus!

With all the money he makes during his lectures, he cannot remain a poor socialist as he claims anymore.

relaxed He makes a lot of sense though, the social fabric isn't going to work for long!

I can't critic much on Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Zizek because I haven't read all of his books, but in the video he uses insulting American slang to put down Donald Trump - although English is not his mother tongue, why use words such as 'scum'?

And he insinuates that Bernie Sanders socialism is great and it's what the U.S needs to elevate more predominately fair equality. I'm not surprised, since Zizek has lived all of his life with it. I find it hypocritical as well, since he charges an exorbitant feel to speak (and brainwash students) in colleges around the world.

Where does his money go, does he give most of it to his government for fair equality?  grinning

As previously said, I think, Slavoj Zizek does lean on both policial echelons, without claiming one side, it's like 'Tarot Card Readers' trying to please clients with rocky predictions, and all said with a vulgar vocabulary!

And that was spoken and said in 2016, thank you for sharing this. laughing

A year later Slavoj Zizek seems to have changed his mind on Trump, nevertheless still spitting vulgarity!

He is just following the Hillary model, gouging for all you can while you can.  Hillary is not the only one doing that, the darlings of Progressivism are such sheeple, following the Pied Piper of Dreams to their earned deserts and willing to pay quite the price to be egged on.
