The top was made about eight years ago, and I added an applique giraffe.   Most of the scraps were gingham I know that the blue and green gingham was left over from DMIL work tops when she worked as a nurses aid, and the yellow and pink may have been leftovers from "favorite cousins" baby quilt.

Glas to know that you at least have some kind of record.  Do you sign your quilts?

What does that mean?  Didn't you have some prisoners making quilts.  Good for them and for the kids who received them.  I call that cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Okay, I was supposed to be having more public events that would bring in funds so I could send $500 a year to national headquarters.  That's what "raising brand awareness" was all about.  I had a core group of stay-at-home grandmas, "church ladies" and prisoners  who generously made quilts, afghans and fleece blankets; I was not about to hit them up for cash donations to send to PL headquarters in Illinois. I wanted them to use their funds to buy blanket-making supplies.

This new rule was implemented in September, 2013 and went into effect immediately. The rule was applied to all Project Linus chapters equally and so the fact was that my chapter in my small county with a population of around 60,000 had to raise the same amount of money as the metropolitan areas like Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland.  Asking Cleveland's chapter to raise $500 was no big deal.  Asking my hardscrabble county with a horrid drug problem and high unemployment was IMHO grossly unfair.

After I got the letter in the mail I fired back an email asking if they were going to consider the possibility of a lower yearly "fee" for small rural chapters. I explained that this demand for $500 a year from my Appalachian type area was not reasonable. The reply from headquarters was negative; they told me to mail in my PL supplies and blanket labels and to finish donating my inventory I had on hand.

When they sent out that "brand awareness" letter Ohio had 22 chapters of Project Linus; the last time I checked it has 17. 

To me this sounds like sometime this became more about the people at the top than what the mission used to be when this all began. So sad!

On the non-longarm quilting front, I'm continuing to work on my Forever Project.  I am appliquing thousands double-pointed leaves.

I am SO tired of appliquing thousands of double-pointed leaves.

I have, at last estimate, thousands more to go.

Working towards the end, one leaf at a time, one stitch at a time.  I'm beginning to hate leaves
