Judy looks like you have some fun projects to keep you outta trouble.................well I guess there is not much trouble to get into these days :{ I have been sewing a lot as well, for me mostly clothes.......................I sewed clothes when I was younger and forgot how much I enjoyed it so that is what I have been doing. I now have a new apron to wear while baking and cooking! Whipped that up yesterday.

Now that looks like quite an idea! I have lots of bits and pieces that could be done that way. But, I have just started the scrap busting mystery from scraps.

I'm glad you hear you enjoying playing with the bright cheery colors of the mash up quilt.. It's going to be gorgeous! It certainly must cheer up these rainy, gloomy confined days we have been having. If you have need of any more brights, I will be glad so supply you with more. It's also nice to work on something that doesn't require a lot of thinking and planning--at least for me it is.

Lynne, I appreciate your generous offer, but DD has overwhelmed me with her gaudy "donation" and I am set for the time being. You are correct about working with cheerful colors on dreary rainy days. I'm sure the local farmers are despairing about ever getting into their fields ... we had 3.5 inches of rain yesterday and more is on the way.

The mystery is on FB. I was trying to see if you could get to it besides on FB, but I don’t see just a Link I can give you.

Well, then, it can just remain mysterious. I would never trust anything that I found on FB.

I haven't been posting any Hollow Cubes lately because I've been working preparation. I'm *hoping* that the business closure will be lifted "soon" and that Mr. Pirate & I can start traveling again. With that in mind, I have been prepping my Hollow Cube piece parts in anticipation of sewing on the road.
While I can sew while in the car, I can't cut fabric! If I don't have any piece parts prepped to be sewn, I'm just gonna be twiddling my thumbs. To that end, I have been busy, rifling through my scrap bins, pulling out pieces that are large enough to cut all the necessary piece parts ... regardless of color. At this point, I don't care what the colors are, I just need to have 6 templates cut from the same fabric. I'll worry about coordinating contrast colors later. :-)
After I've cut the fabric, I pin the templates to the fabric and thread baste the corners. All 6 templates of one color are then clipped together. This photo is part of the blue scraps. I'm not pairing these units with any other colors at this point. I'm just prepping templates of the same color.
My goal, right now, is to prep the units of a color. I can do the combining of units while on the road.
Here is a pile of green units. All different shades are in this pile: dark, medium, and light. I *could*, with this pile, begin to pair appropriate light, medium, and dark shades but I haven't yet. I could also combine any of these units with units of a completely different color (departing from my current monochromatic theme). When it comes time to start pairing the colors, it may turn out that I will need to search for a specific shade of a color to make the Hollow Cube really work right.
And here are small baggies of templates that *have* been paired with other colors. Each bag will become one Hollow Cube. Hopefully, I've chosen the different colors wisely! There are 13 bags here, which will result in 13 Hollow Cubes.

I could see something like the color Mash Up happening here. Squares in various sizes are already cut. I've made some rectangular string blocks. Not sure how they will go together yet. Now I'm cutting out a baby quilt.

You're making progress on the tedious part. How you can take a trip soon.
