Dee, I think your reds would make a neat looking plaid or ribbon quilt.

You must have t shirt quilt making down to a science if you have six on your plate and still thinking about a quilt out of the red fabric.

Regarding the tshirt quilts, yes I do. Lirtally a production line process. Not a lot of creativity involved honestly, but people do love them. I approach them like a jigsaw puzzle, trying to fit in as many as I can. I made 7 earlier this year.

I have one of those cutters, bought it on sale!  I should use up the homespuns I have, cause i really  don't like homespuns!!  Denise and Cathy gave me some of their homespuns, and i have several normal quilts to finish with them,but then maybe use the rest for aa throw!

I'll put it on my list-LOL!!

thanks Mel.  Those are nice nut I don't have THAT many plaids.  There are only about 4.  A couple of checks, and 4 stripes.

they aren't all homespuns so I don't think a rag quilt will work either, some are what I think is called shirting.  DD & I made a rag quilt out of flannel back when they were first a thing and neither of us enjoyed doing it - she keeps it in her car trunk .  I'm leaning towards a traditional pattern (Ohio Star or similar) in two colors, red & beige.  I think I'll search two color quilts and see what comes up.  There were some smaller pieces of beige plaid also.  The friend worked at Cabage Rose as  teacher and much of the fabric is FQ's or end of bolt cuts, but good quality.  Just not my typical style.

I find it interesting how a word can bring something different to mind. Ami suggested a plaid quilt for your reds.  Mel showed some different quilts made with plaid fabric.  It made me think of using the fabric to create a quilt that looked like a piece of plaid fabric.  I have never figured out how to post a photo from iPad so I can't show you what came to mind.  I know whatever you do will be stunning even if you are working out of your fabric comfort zone, cause I've seen your prior projects.

I hope it gets easier as you do more.  I have done one for a friend's daughter and really liked it.  Now I have started one for my DGD who just left home to go to the Culinary Institute of America in NY.  I have 4 more lined up.  # for the children of my brother who passed away and another for my other DGD who wants one with her swimming t-shirts.  It's like doing a crossword puzzle only you get to make the pieces.

It does get easier as you do more. But kind of dull too. I have worked out a method that works kind of production line style. But no pretty fabrics or fun designs. Just lots of cutting and big blocks.

Well, this morning - along with frustration with my sewing machine giving me grief- I finished 2 ‘down & dirty’ tops for LWR, the organization that lost quilts in Beirut.

all year I have been cutting copious scraps into usable sizes.  But I had a box that wasn’t quite yardage - less than 1/2 yd. - and maybe not Full WOF.  So I started cutting wife strips as long as they were.  Earlier this week I pulled out the thickest pile the same width and started sewing the lengths together and cutting them to 60” in length.

today I was able to group the rows in two different tops.  They aren’t the prettiest scrap quilts, but they were fast, easy, and will be warm and comforting.  I needed them to be fast as I have lost seamstresses in my group.  And we are trying to finish as many tops as possible before we have a fall pick up day!

Your Hen House forever project is very cute!  Yes, I think your first hen was merely not quite the fabrics to choose to go together.  She'll be great with the others I think.
