I think I might add the embroidery after the quilting.

Won't that be harder do do after the quilting?  For one you will have the whole big quilt in your lap and then have to quilt through all layers of the fabric and it will show on the back.  Unless you know how to embroider just the one layer after it is quilted.

You have really been busy and productive, I've been to Vegas 4x in the last 2 months.  My brother passed away last week.  I took sewing with me but just didn't feel like doing it.  I need to meet with some of my quilt friends and get my mojo back.

Cathy I am so sorry and sometimes we just can't do anything else but grieve. Just get some of that time with friends and don't worry about working on stuff.

and that is EXACTLY my plan!  You are so clever to read my mind. :-)      There is a technical way to securely start and finish the embroidery without needing to go through all 3 layers.  It's not difficult; you just need to be careful.

Ah, I am so sorry to hear that.  It was certainly expected but it's sad news all the same.  My thoughts are with you.  (((( Cathy ))))

I'm sure you have all that figured out.  I would do it the other way.

1st applique block is done.  Prep'ing two others now.

I'm thinking about putting 3 together, on point, then adding pieced rows all around.  something like this:
