I highly recommend this process.  It removed blue batik that had bled on to white background, even after several years it came out.  Below is just one of the blocks.

Shelley, have you ever used Synthrapol when washing your quilts?  I have used it for years and years and never had a bled issue.

it attaches to those loose dyes in the water and keeps them from attaching to other fabric.  I’ve had color in my water, but never color attaching elsewhere.

Nice that your daughter appreciates your quilts and wants to look at them.  Neither my daughter or son is wild about them from what I can determine.  So....they just won't get anymore unless they ask for something specific!  So there!disappointed_relieved

Honestly, because I *do* wash all of my yardage before it goes in any quilt ... and I normally do use color catcher sheets (I don't know why I didn't use one this time) ... I really wasn't unduly concerned about any of the scraps I used.

It's obvious, however, that there IS/WAS excess dye in the dark green and the hot pink fabrics.

Thanks, Dee, for that link ... and your photos.

I remember reading this article some time ago (years, maybe) but it didn't come to mind when I saw the green bleed through on the quilt.   So, I've printed out the document and will be studying it.   Thanks again.  I hope it works for me, too!

I put a couple drops of Dawn in the wash machine the first time I wash a quilt.

LOL!!!   yeah, your response was to be expected.  :-)

Dee I use dawn and very hot water and soak for hours and have also saved some quilts that have had bleeding.

She will never notice. Seriously, it’s faint and will fade. Looks fantastic.
