Your little blocks are quite the accomplishment. Small block are much harder to make than big ones. Reverse applique looks great!

I really like that setting with rectangles instead of squares! Gonna file that idea away.

Audition both the cherry red and the black and then decide. Either would look stunning, in my not-so-humble opinion.

How true! And sometimes the forever is self-imposed. Not liking a block that is 2 rows up and 4 over, and you've already sewn your rows together.

I'd put all three with a few blocks and see which one knocks your socks after a week or so.
