What have I been working on this weekend? 

I am PURGING most of my "less than quilting quality" fabrics.  Some of it is very pretty, but it is impossibly thin, and has little to no cotton content - mostly polyester.  And did I say it is thin?  You could read the newspaper through this stuff.  I think much of it was from my Mom's stash from eons ago (she died in late 2000, and I just emptied her shelves of all the fabric without going through it).  I think she must have bought some of this at local discount stores several years before she died.  I also have received some of it in bags of fabric given to me or bought by me at thrift stores.  I have a few large boxes full, and still adding more.  I don't want to take it back and dump it on the thrift stores again, so I'm going to take it to the next "crafting Saturday" at the local library -- they have a give-away table, and there are always more crafters there than quilters.  Just a handful of quilters at those crafting days.  Anyway --- I will definitely put a sign on the box saying that it is NOT quilting fabric, and it is not good quality for most other things either.  Some of it might be good for lightweight curtains.  Some of it would be great for crafters or scrapbookers, though.  Or for kids to play around with and make craft stuff with (before they get interested in really learning to quilt).   Whatever doesn't get picked up from the give-away table, will go straight to the dumpster.  It will help a little to get that junk separated out from my better fabrics and disposed of, freeing up some more space in my "fabric room."  I still have way too much, but I am still sorting and purging, and every bit of time I have to work on it is a step in the right direction.  One major goal is to get rid of ALL cardboard boxes, so I am cleaning out 2-3 boxes of stuff every day.  I thought I had the boxes labeled fairly well, but several of them that I thought contained fabrics actually have household stuff (which I apparently have not needed since I moved here), clothing (another thing I need to purge), books and papers, etc.

That is an admirable goal!  And one that you can keep to!  Eventually, you'll flatten the last empty box and you will be *done*!  (with that phase!)

Good for you, realizing what needs to be done, setting realistic goals to make it happen.  Has got to feel good.

Positively stunning!   And I love your modeling job--quite unique.  I'm so glad you completed it instead of pushing it aside out of boredom.  Let ua all know how  your friend responds.

I hope it gets picked up, i would hate to see it go to the dumpster.  Do I need to make a trip down?  A friend and I have been getting set up to do some paper mache, using thin cloth.  And there is always stuffing dog beds!  Hope you find homes for all your  reject fabric.

I am probably going to make a trip to Ks in November,  to give more fabric to Aunt Margaret
