Just for fun, just because. I do enjoy piecing blocks. Putting them all together not as much. I did use fabric from my stash for all except I was struggling with a green & a red, so I went by Gibsons and got a couple of half yard moda's. I might try and finish by the weekend (E2E quilting only) and hang it in the den in time for Christmas.

Very pretty, Dee!
I like seeing all the pieces come together, emerging from nothing into something gorgeous. It's a good feeling of accomplishment.

thanks Shelley. I had started out not sure if I even wanted to make this, so I did the 1st block using stash fabric that I didn't like all that much. Then I kept going, thinking to only pull from my stash. But then when the blocks were on the wall I really didn't like a couple of them. hmmm. You know how we sometimes "make up" rules as we're quilting? Well somehow I had decided to alternate red & green blocks and only pull from my stash. And that top right didn't look red or green, more of a brown when viewed from a distance. Hmmm. And all my green holiday fabric looked too much like fabric already up there. then my son (who has somehow become a painter - whaaa?) says he doesn't like the bottom left either. So I decided I had already put enough effort into this quilt that I shouldn't leave fabrics/blocks that I didn't like. And went shopping. Much happier now. Here's the original layout.

Love it! I finished the last of my quilting for the year. Sitting outside Santa Fe waiting for my lunch.
I got Denise's quilt binding half done. Would have done more but I drove half way. We left at 6am.
Now I need to figure out a bit of decorating for the house. Both girls are coming up Christmas morning.

Yup sometimes you just don't have the right fabric in your stash and you just have to get the right thing. I start with stash and then fill in with new stuff.

I need to learn how to FMQ on my treadle. I think I could control the speed much better.
I use a flexible snow sled as my Supreme Slider. It was big enough to cut into 3 different sizes so I can use almost any machine I have to FMQ (if I ever get good at it anyway) and quilt SITD or simple grids.
Actually what I NEED to do is just devote some serious time to getting FMQ down pat and using it weekly.

Patty helped me finish a tp and then we made another one. Quilted a couple of hers. It was a productive weekend. It is awesome to have Pita quilting. I start something and leave for work. When I get home it is like a little quilting elf has come in and worked on it.

I have done FMQ on my treadle....I don't have the right foot for it, so I go footless, which means I have to use something to keep from sewing me to the quilt - I have a set of OctiHoops that work for keeping out of the way.
Did you ever see any of the youtube videos of FMQ work on treadle that Tim Latimer did? If not, its a treat to watch him work. (I don't know what happened to him.. he was going gangbusters, but no one has heard from him in a couple of years)
