She is a sewing whirlwind so who knows.

If I'm busy pulling fabrics, cutting & planning, I won't be sewing.   This one took all yesterday evening to cut & plan.  I still need to number the row/columns, then it is ready to pack away.  I'm running out of some of the colors that were precut, so it takes longer to pull out the yardage & cut, then put away.  And we have family coming tonight, so I need to get this off the design wall as it will get brushed past & fall off the wall.

ooh...like that one...looks like there will be a chain going around the blocks.

I am going to make an irish chain iSpy for my grandson one of these days...

Viola, do you have a pattern or dimensions for the Child Protective Services bags? Are they drawstring type tote bags or do they have handles?

I'm trying to get a group of ladies started on these.

chop chop chop.

10 kits ready to go.  The top left bag (pattern is called "radiant") is actually two quilts because you cut the blocks in half - and I didn't want duplicates in the quilt, so two quilts.  I plan to play around with the layout once the blocks are done, kind of like log cabin blocks - lots of variations possible.

 I started on the top right one last night, the nested stars - figured that one would be more difficult to do at a retreat because you have to lay it out on a design wall as you sew.

We had company this weekend (guest room is sewing room) so I had anticipated I'd be working on hand piecing as I wouldn't have access to my room.  But we visited a new to us quilt shop in the area and my cousin bought a batik red & black Moda layer cake that was marked down to $17 (whee!).  And she wanted to sew.  While she made large rail fence blocks I cut out kits.  And talked and talked.  So glad my cousin married a quilter - and a lovely intelligent funny woman that likes to visit.  Fun weekend

They are pillowcase size and draw string.Use grosgrain ribbon 3/8.

well, it isn't as bad as it might be.  It is "family" and the wife is a quilter so she understands.  But it does limit my access.  the husband was here a few weeks ago by himself for a couple of days.  So I grabbed my retreat stuff and set up in my office.  It worked out fine, used the kitchen counter for cutting like I used to before we built the addition.

one kit done. The layout on this one is the most difficult, making sure you get the triangles going the correct direction and the spacing between the solid squares right.  I kept counting "one down, two left, 4 between".  Definitely not intuitive, but the resulting interlocking friendship stars is pretty cool.
