You are incorrigible. From that Instagram link, I found the Bamboozled website, based in England. Oh, the fantastic 3D hexagon blocks! The lady who offers this BOM is a one-up entrepreneur, someone I like to support.
So, after a minimal amount of hemming and hawing, I have now subscribed to the year long BOM of 3D blocks. The "baby bamboozled" blocks measure 4"x4.5", which is smaller than my own Hollow Cubes, but I'll just scale them up.
Originally, I was thinking of having my entire Forever Project of just the Hollow Cubes. But then, as I began to see the quilts that other people have made where they have put some plain blocks between the 3D blocks and even mixed up the 3D blocks, the more I started to think that mixing it up would be more visually interesting than an entire quilt of the same optical illusion block.
These Bamboozled blocks have come at just the right time! I think I ought to thank you ... but I'm not entirely certain. :-) However, the die is cast and I sure do hope that this optical illusion quilt will turn out nicely.

Well, starting tomorrow, Mr. Pirate & I are leaving for our annual extended family camping vacation. I wasn't sure that the State Parks would be open, but they are, so woo hoo!
I've already prepped THOUSANDS (well, maybe a few less) of Hollow Cube blocks to work on while we are there. But they are only that one pattern ... the Hollow Cube. That's OK .. I can make patterns for the other blocks when we return home. I'm not in a hurry, after all, this IS my Forever Project™ :-)

i'd be tempted to take some template material and a few chunks of extra fabric...

Sounds like you are trying to push her further down that rabbit hole! The blocks you showed were really nice! Me I am not tempted as I am quite busy with my own forever (pandemic) top. I do hope to be able to get back to my little hexi 3d quilt and get that done as well, it is a good thing to do on a road trip as it is not mindless straight line applique.

I think right now we are all "down the rabbit hole" in some project or another.. or so it seems to me. I almost finish one of my project bins.. and another pops up. I think this will be my next. I have WAY to many "rabbit holes" to fall into it seems.

I'm out of the rabbit hole. I had a handful of hollow cube blocks I didn't know what to do with and a handful of ratty hot pads that needed to be retired. Win/win.

I have a full bin of projects...its not really properly confined to just that bin though...there are some in my office ....
