So very sorry to hear about your Mom. This must be a terrible blow to your Dad, you, and your siblings. Prayers for you all, and a special hug for you. May G-d spread his healing hands to help everyone through this transition.

I’m so sorry to read this. Yes, many of us have gone through something similar. I know being during the holiday season the diagnosis is harder, but in reality no time is. Take care my friend. Prayers going continually up for you and yours.

We have talked about this. Is assisted living being arranged for both of your parents or only your Mom? Will your Dad be able to manage by himself. I know how difficult all of this is. At least there are 5 of you to assist. You are all in my prayers.
Dec-4
Ellen I will pray for your parents, you and your family. I know this is a hard time.

I'm sorry you are doing through this. Unfortunately, most of us have had to go through similar stuff with our parents. We totally understand what you are going through. You are so lucky you have siblings who are close by and can help. I will be saying a prayer for you and your family during this time.

Sorry to hear this! I know it must be a tough transition. I've been talking to my parents about plans for the future, too. They're younger, but my dad (76) is COPD/emphysema guy whom I could show qualified for hospice if he applied. My mom just turned 70, but she has Cerebral Palsey and Meniere's, so can't get around w/o my dad. Soooo... time to start prepping thought wise.

I'm sorry Ellen. It is hard when our parents age and have such big health issues. I'll be praying for your wisdom, patience and both your parents to be receptive to necessary changes.

Where in KS do you go? That's my home state and Canton is the town. Very small, but nice place to grow up.
Dec-10
I know where Canton is! My family lives in and near Cheney. West of Wichita!
im praying the weather holds for me to get there tomorrow night!

Cheney Reservoir.. We used to go boating/swimming there are teenagers. I moved to CA in June 1968 and lived here ever since. I do go back every couple of years. I drive to visit my son & family in Toledo so I make the rounds.
I will pray that the weather holds up. It's always a dicey thing.. any time of year. If push comes to shove you can always go ice skating on a creek nearby. LOL
One of my daughters friends is from Kingman. She met her CA hubby when he attended K-State on a track scholarship and she was at KU in the nursing program. A couple of years back she convinced him that her home town would be more beneficial for the three youngsters. He got a job as a school principal and they moved. He said best thing ever. They have acres, horses, space and as he put it "normal" people around. Of course Jessica's family are thrilled to have her back after almost 20 yrs.
