Where in KS do you go?  That's my home state and Canton is the town. Very small, but nice place to grow up.

Cheney Reservoir.. We used to go boating/swimming there are teenagers.  I moved to CA in June 1968 and lived here ever since.  I do go back every couple of years.  I drive to visit my son & family in Toledo so I make the rounds.

I will pray that the weather holds up.  It's always a dicey thing.. any time of year.  If push comes to shove you can always go ice skating on a creek nearby.  LOL

One of my daughters friends is from Kingman.  She met her CA hubby when he attended K-State on a track scholarship and she was at KU in the nursing program.  A couple of years back she convinced him that her home town would be more beneficial for the three youngsters.  He got a job as a school principal and they moved.  He said best thing ever.  They have acres, horses, space and as he put it "normal" people around.  Of course Jessica's family are thrilled to have her back after almost 20 yrs.

Kingman is a town my family visits often for various things.  Our family farm is just a few miles between Hwy 54 and the reservoir!  You went past the edge of our farm!

yes, many things about the rural life are great.  Half my siblings are still in the area!  3 of the 6 of us….  But I raised my kids in the city, mostly because it’s where hubby work was.

There is much to be said about a Midwestern upbringing.  My maternal side are General Conference Mennonite so I learned all the female domestic skills from my grandmother & her generation of family women.  My mother did not subscribe to that lifestyle.

I never joined the church, because I was raised in town.  Grandma and I attended the Methodist church in bad weather and went to Alexanderwohl Mennonite just outside of Gossell in good weather.  Our family was a founding family of the church.  It's named after the Ukrainian village they immigrated from.  Next year when I make my bi-annual trip I'm going to be meeting up with the church Genealogist and see what's been added in my direct family line.  I would like to add my kids to the family records.

So very sorry Ellen, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.  I know this is a very difficult time for you.  I’m glad your siblings will be there so you can all support one another.

Sitting in Denver airport waiting for connecting flight!  I bounce from relishing some time along ….well not really alone!  Denver is a zoo of people everywhere!  And then, missing having a traveling companion!

it will be a late night tonight, but I got a small nap of last flight.  Just enough to give me a boost!
eager and dreading at the same time to see mom!  Sounds like she might be declining quickly.  But knowing from having been through this before, it might just be a spell.  I think after a week being here, I will have a better idea.

those of you that pray,  send up prayers for her and us!  Covid has hit the home she is in!  No one on her wing.  But 3 staff have it…..asking everyone to use masks and be super careful!

Praying for you and your mom.
