It's not a quilt but I needed to use quilt batting and cotton fabric. wink

My DH turned 82 years old today and I surprised him with a handcrafted ice cream cozy, something he didn't know he needed. He's been wrapping his Haagen-Daz containers in paper towels for years to protect his aged fingers from the cold and when I saw this pattern on Etsy recently I pounced on it.

All went smoothly until it was time to turn the lining inside out but I survived. confounded

(I maintain no matter how old and decrepit a man is he still needs a surprise on his birthday.)

That's a great idea for a gift.  Thanks.  I think it would also be a popular item at craft fairs and other fund-raisers.

In the past I had made and given away about 25 or 30 soup bowl cozies and this is simply a variation on that idea. Everyone who was gifted one of my soup bowl cozies really seemed to think I was a genius. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

If you check out Etsy.com you will fill lots of variations on the "cozy" idea .... downloadable patterns for casserole cozies, etc.

Oh that is adorable. And who wants cold hands when eating their ice cream?

Really cool! I bet he is going to enjoy that.

Well, you certainly are creative, clever, and thoughtful!  I bet he was surprised and pleased.  I've made soup bowl cozies, but never even thought of one for cold things. I made a couple of soup bowl cozies for a friend in the suburbs and you would have thought I invented the wheel. Guess they don't have many craft fairs in "the city".  Good job, Judy.

Is that a new avatar  or have I not been paying attention?

very nice!  I love your fabric selection.  My kids have both "taken" one of my soup bowl cozies.  BTW, DS moved out two weeks ago, feels strange to be an empty nester.  We are getting ready to repaint & replace carpet back in the kids area of the house.  wonder what I will find in the depths of his closet....

My oldest is moving to CO at the end of the month.  Someone was asking me about fixing up his room, lol, and I haven’t even given that a thought!  Lol, that room has never been empty - just had different kids in it.

guess I will see after he is out!  I might finally get a guest room!

Doctor was so gung-ho on getting salt out of my system he put me in hospital and zapped me with drugs; I lost so much weight that I dropped three sizes in pants. Also I found cheekbones I had not seen since my senior  year of college. Decided it was time to change my avatar. Kinda scary scream! But my  heart is functioning much better and I can cook a meal and do the laundry much more easily now.

I'm still giving away Lily Aurora. Don't want to push my luck.
