Best in Show - Amazing Needle Turn applique   Quilting Swaps - Unsewn

Started Aug-21 by Dee in TX (DBRADFOR3); 565 views.

Some pictures of the Best in Show at our Fort Worth Quilt Show last week.  I hope she enters it in Houston, the workmanship was amazing. She is in my guild but I haven't met her.  I plan to track her down next meeting and gush over her quilt. Sorry the big photo isn't better, I was having trouble keeping people out of the frame.

The dark Veins on those leaves in the border were reverse applique and the points look amazing.  It was all batik so that helps, but it was amazing how sharp those points were.  Hand embroidered embellishment around many of the pieces. She did her own quilting (not computerized) and it was phenomenal as well.  Definitely Houston quality.

holy moley.

Everything about those photos is amazing.  Was there any information on how long she worked on it?

Most Judy type people have birth dates in 1940s like myself. (We were named for Judy Garland who was at the peak of her popularity back then.) I could be wrong but that's gonna be my guess until proven otherwise.

All the more reason to swoon over her accomplishment.

Wow that is really beautiful. Yes you should encourage her to enter Houston.

well based on her photo, I would guess closer to my age than yours. blush

It's beautiful.  I have a feeling that the picture doesn't do it justice.  6 years and lots of patience for sure.
