My DH was always available to make an acrylic template for me when I tackled a small project like a tote bag or a quilted purse of some type.

I have been cleaning out cabinets and closets recently and giving useful things to my DD (my next generation quilt maker) and I came across this clear acrylic template stored between some bolts of assorted Pellon products.  I am stumped. What pattern did I use this for?   (Trust me, it's not for a garment because I gave up garment sewing long, long ago.)

I would have traced this on fabric and then cut it out, I think. The acrylic doesn't show any nicks from a rotary cutter. I've stared at it long enough that I am ready to toss it out but I think I should run it by you clever people on the forum to see if anyone recalls an old something from long ago.

That doesn't look familiar to me at all, at least not part of any pattern that I'm familiar with.

Perhaps the curved section was to accommodate a Drunkard's Path piece????

Just guessing here, but I'm remembering how you like to make color wheels and stars/suns with brightly-colored "rays."  Could it be something like that?

OH!  That's a really good guess!  I seem to remember some sort of spinning, spiral color wheel that Judy made.

Something *like* these, where the curved part of the template would be the rays and the cut out part could be the center.

Although these images are not exactly what I was thinking of, Judy, do any of these ring a small bell in your memory?

Yes!  relaxed Yes!   relaxed Younger heads are better than mine!!!

Two yeses to Jonna and Shelley for coming up with a purpose for this acrylic template that DH made and I never did use!!

Making color wheels was a process of fits and starts for years and I would guesstimate that for every completed color wheel I had another one that was trashed. This most certainly is a template for one that was trashed and I kept the template with the idea that I might tackle it again on a better day.

It's better day has come and gone.  unamused I will not try to foist it off on DD because the pattern has obviously vanished.

Thank you, dear friends with excellent memories.

Oh *good*!!  It's always gratifying when a mystery is solved!

Let's have a glass of wine to celebrate!  :-)
