I’ve got good news and bad news.
The bad news is I have kidney cancer.
The good news is it was found by accident and is very small, 2.8cm. My surgery date is May 11th. There is a small chance it could be benign but it’s not likely. My urologist said these kidney tumors are almost always cancerous (85-90%). The doctor won’t know until he gets in there if he will remove the tumor or take the kidney. If the kidney is removed I should have no problems with just one kidney and I would be surgically cured of cancer. Cathy tells me that you can live with only 1/3 of a kidney. I’m not scared or nervous. I expect things to turn out just fine. I'm blessed to have Cathy as a friend. She is going to come and spend a week with me while I recover.

Oh my goodness, Carolyn. Praise the Lord that the small accidental discovery happened! You'll be in good hands with Cathy.

Quilters are just the best people. I remember how Nyla dropped everything to go to California to take care of Denise when she had her leg surgery. Nyla told me that if it wasn't for her health problems she would have come to help me (and I know she absolutely would have.) Ellen helped drive me and my dogs to Kansas when I moved back here. Patty came up from Oklahoma to unpack my sewing room when I first started having back problems, and I barely knew her from the retreat. I have made lifelong friends in my online quilting family. When I started looking for a quilting online forum I didn't know any of ya'll. Of course, I have plenty of family here but they all have jobs and it takes a tremendous load off of them for me to have help.
