I took a serge class a couple of years ago and they showed an example of what happens to knits sewn with a regular needle. With washing and wear the area around the seams were pretty tattered. For knits always use a ballpoint.

Your cathedral windows quilt looks beautiful.

Today was a day for playing with simple shapes and bright colors.  One finished project has been named "Painted Daisy" (I used to grow the real thing decades ago; they were lovely delicate pastel-ish flowers with feathery ferny foliage).  The bird is a Blue-eyd Red-Beaked Dimple-Bottomed Tailless Squatter.  He is a flightless bird straight out of my imagination.   Can you tell I used leftover parts from the "daisy" to create the Squatter?

This pot is full now.  Time to move on to projects for another pot.  Plus DD has asked me to make her a dragonfly for her garden. 

(My Hoosier grandpa once startled me by calling a dragonfly a gallynipper. I think that offers potential for an interesting creature.)

Best part of some of the creative stuff with clay is the smirk on my face when I think of the name for the dumb bird and then carry out the design technique necessary to create what goes with the name.  (You might have guessed that "dimple bottomed" is the polite version of what I was really thinking.)

These are all so cute!  They look fantastic and you won't have to spend time watering and deadheading!

And I will not have murderous urges to chase down squirrels and wring their little necks when they dig in these pots for buried acorns next spring! 

(Plus I have a dimwit neighbor down the street who is leaving out unshelled peanuts for the squirrels. I have found a few of those in my large pots when I dig around preparing to plant my begonias and I know exactly who to blame. She feeds feral cats and religiously recycles everything ... she is on a one-woman mission to save the earth. Don't get me wrong ... I recycle newspapers, catalogs, pop cans, etc. but this neighbor is abnormal.)
