The smooshed together reminds me of my 1st forever project. I don't like how mine turned out at all, it needed some places to rest. Makes my heart hurt to think of how much time I spent on it and it's put away in a cabinet.
But back to yours, I ran across this in my photos, from the Houston show several years ago. I guess I was thinking about making one at some point.

Yup! I have that photo, also, as additional inspiration. That one is neat because the "frame" is light/medium/dark in one color and the "walls" are light/medium/dark in a different, contrasting color but each shade is *still* properly placed ... the dark frame of color 1 is opposite the dark wall of color 2, etc.
At this point, all I need to do is the mindless assembly of the hexies. When it comes to assembling the *top*, then I'll see what size I have, where all the hexies should be placed and if I need to make more to fill in holes.

Yup! Me, too. And I do like the idea of putting some 3D pop-up hexies in there, just to break up the Hollow Cubes. At least, the idea sounds good in my head. We'll see how it goes when it's assembly time!

Well on how many to make, who is this for. Do you want to display it on a bed? Maybe do a wall quilt and call it done.
We drove to Colorado yesterday and I was appliquing my cubes to the background and made great progress. I went about a third of the way around the shape.

and that, of course, is THE question! I haven't decided at this point. I don't need to! I'll assemble all the Hollow Cube hexies I have currently kitted up and see what that gives me. I'll make some decisions at that time.

Love your cubes! The purple one really has good contrast. I know what you mean--fabric choices folded next to each other looked good, but when made into a cube you didn't see the contrast as much as you thought you would. Yours are great!
