about a week ago, I loaded my Stash Busting Stars onto my longarm. (The name isn't quite true, unless you have a VERY small stash.) The star blocks are about 15" square, which is bigger than the workspace on my longarm. So, I am doing *half* of the block at a time.
Because I was curious, I timed myself .. how long did it take to SITD one block? This is actually 3 passes around the circumference of the circle inside the block: one pass for each side of the vines & leaves outside the circle and then the perimeter of the circle itself. It takes me 15 minutes. That includes burying all the tails.
Tonight, I did one complete width-of-quilt pass ... edge to edge. That was 3 half-circles and 2 quarter circles for a total of 4 half-circles. Time? 1 hour. I was pretty impressed ... 4 blocks at 15 minutes each = 1 hour. :-)
And I'm half way through the interior SITD.

Just keep on keeping on and you will get there.
I finally have a plan for the hexi cubes so if it works I will begin the quilting today if I have time. I am working on my biggest ever sewing project....my DBIL is designing a skirt to go all the way around our RV for the Winter. His sewer showed me how to use the industrial machine. Yesterday I made 3 mega huge panels and that is about 1/4 of the around. It included 3 zippers.

Wowser .. that IS a huge undertaking. Fortunately, I don't think it will particularly intricate .. just a LOT of fabric. :-)

Well there are many pieces. 34 yards of 61 inch wide vinyl fabric. 14 big zippers. More parts than you would think. DBIL is doing all the planning, measuring, cutting and snap setting. I just sew what he tells me. This takes the biggest sewing project I have ever sewn. No quilting today.

Love your hexi cubes - it will be fun to see how you decide to quilt them.
Talk about a huge project. It should help the RV stay warmer though - and just in time since cooler weather is headed to the west side of the country - even AZ is going to get cooler. Starting tomorrow we'll be in the 40s in the mornings when we go out walking - brrrr.
